My fellow Americans, don't forget about the end of Daylight Saving Time for this kickoff. Set your clocks back, check your smoke alarm batteries, get ready for 4:30 sunsets. Kickoff: 9 AM Eastern (I think), 2 PM UK (I'm just guessing) Venue: Emirates Stadium, London US TV: Peacock Of our matches in this international interregnum, this is by far the easiest. Watford are hot garbage, as they tend to be in the Premier League. They're 16th in the league, and besides a really weird 5-2 away win at Goodison Park, have been awful away from home in the league. They also got a win at Championship side Norwich early in the season. ... What's that? Norwich is actually in the Premier League? Then why would they ever sign Josh Sargent? That doesn't make any sense, I'll have to do some research. Anyway. Elton John's Moose Boys have the fourth-worst defense in the league this season. England's #1 TikTok star, Ben Foster, can only do so much behind a backline anchored by Craig Cathcart and Udinese washout William Troost-Ekong. Watford's attack is primarily driven by former Arsenal transfer target Ismaila Sarr, who has popped home a respectable 4 goals from the right wing this season. They also have Josh King, the most English-named Norwegian in the world, leading the line, to the tune of 3 goals (all against Everton) in 8 league appearances this season. This will be Claudio Ranieri's fourth match in charge of Watford; he has won 1, lost 2. Knowing the owners, he has about 8 left before he gets fired. The head-to-head history of this fixture is pretty kind to Arsenal - Watford's last win at the Emirates was in 2017, against an Arsenal side featuring Gabriel Paulista at right back (The full Arsenal XI: Cech; Monreal, Koscielny, Mustafi, Gabriel; Coquelin, Ramsey; Sanchez, Ozil, Iwobi; Giroud). They actually won both league fixtures that calendar year. Let's make sure nothing similar happens again. Depending on the weekend's results, a win here could take Arsenal up to 5th (4th if West Ham ships a dozen or so to Liverpool), while a loss could drop us as far as 10th. After this, a 13-day break, then a trip to Anfield. COYG
man, every time someone says 7 goals, i feel obligated to go back and watch highlights from that middlesborough game. still great.
England switched to daylight savings time last Sunday, so this Sunday the time difference between England and the US will remain the same as it was before either switched. We will see later television starts for the games today and tomorrow, for example the early Saturday game is usually aired at 4:30 Pacific Time, but tomorrow I just might get up at 5:30 to watch City take United apart, but Sunday will be back to the normal television time slots.
Dilly Ding, Dilly Dong... wish Claudio all the best, and with his Leicester 2.0 project, I hope he miraculously manages to beat the average managerial tenure under Pozzo. Just not this Sunday. p.s. Start Tavares over Tierney again... he could use a little more rest & recovery, then we cross fingers as he goes away with Scotland.
according to jeorge bird, xhaka is already doing light training. that's just . . . fucking insanity. if we can combine xhaka's health with wilshere's play, it'd be damn magical. does make january/AFCON slightly less worrisome.
Coupled with a Liverpool repeat of their 5-0 performance from last week, Arsenal would jump to 4th in the table.
Was thinking of him too. And his cajones. Anyway big congrats on the baby… exciting/challenging times in your house! Not your first?
No Thomas Partey. Tierney is available, but Nuno still gets the start. 📜 Here’s how we line up for #ARSWAT…🗞 @MaitlandNiles starts in midfield🗞 @KieranTierney returns to squad🗞 @LacazetteAlex and @Auba up top— Arsenal (@Arsenal) November 7, 2021
Yikes, AMN for Partey... that's a tad scary. Edit: OTOH it's a tremendous opportunity for Ainsley to show that he can slot in when and as needed and do the job!
Crap, offside. Keeper was so far off his line, there was only 1 defender between Saka and the goal, not 2.
I'm doing Peacock on a Roku which sadly adds the better part of a minute of buffering delay. So if you stay up to date with this thread or one of the website live feeds, you'll actually be better informed than some of us who are watching "live" Or... go enjoy a good hike.
