What are the odds that Toluca rolls over and lets us win?

    Re: DC United vs Toluca

Do we have any suspensions for this game?

DCU wll be tired after the difficult game Saturday night. What did Toluca do this weekend?

Gomez, Fred, and Olsen should be fresh, right?

well with 2 MUST WIN matches in 4 days and LOTS of injuries, how will this play out?

me personally all out both matches, BUT if you have to pick one, this match is the only match we have 100% control of our destiny, BUT its in Mexico?

knowing the club, it will be 2nd team out tomorrow night, full team rested for saturday

I can't say that I have too much of a problem with that choice, all things considered.

I'm not sure we have a first or second team anymore. No standouts this year. Key players might include Jakovic, James and Namoff (injured). One could argue that Emilio is important since no one else has proven to be a consistent scorer or true striker.

Hey, these could be the last two games of the year. The team just had a week off. Start the game with a competitive line up on Tuesday. Blend in the fresh players. Start Emilio up top. Plan to sub out Emilio and one defensive sub to rest for next Saturday.

Pontius should be ready too, right?

I assume we're resting Gomez Tuesday, he plays for crap at altitude. If he starts, he needs to come out at minute 55, if he doesn't, he needs to come in at 65 if we are within a goal ;)

Toluca let Marathon win on the last game.

They might field C team, and let us win, too.

They could - They could lose and with the tiebreaker rules still come in first

But I doubt that they'll field a weak team and tank a game at home

I don't think they could roll far enough for that to happen, even if they tried. :(

    Re: DC United vs Toluca

I want to see jaime and gomez start this game.

    --------------------------wick----------------------------
    vaughn-----------james--------------jakovic------wallace

    ---------------------------Jacobson-----------------------
    Khumalo---------------------------------------------Pontius
    ----------------------------Gomez-------------------------
    ---------------------------------------Moreno-------------
    -------------------------Emilio-----------------------------

IMO this is the best lineup we can offer that will play the style of game to give us the best chance to come with a win or a tie..... Moreno and Gomez to be played til' they can't.

IMO moreno and gomez need to be on the field together, say what you will about their age, but no one on the team can hold and distribute better than them, or work better with each other.

They will be the key to winning with guys like emilio or pontius possibly being able to finish what both can come up with. I really want to see them out on the field together, but without each other on the field at the same time both are incomplete. Given their age one cant handle the same load as they could before without the other. Moreno was able to last season, but not anymore.

Both need to be out there to be effective. Anyone else agree?

And from Goff's twitter just now: Olsen, Moreno, Simms, Burch not in Mexico with #DCU for vital Champions League finale in order to prepare for vital league match at KC Sat.

    Re: DC United vs Toluca

    That's crazy.

It's crazy enough to start both of them when you know that neither of them can go 90 minutes, so that you've got two substitutions committed before the match has even started. But it's especially crazy when the match is at 7500' and thus it's questionable if either of them can be effective for more than *60* minutes.

    Re: DC United vs Toluca

Its the simple argument of technique, ball control, and soccer smarts vs. youth, speed, and endurance... is it worth it to use those 2 subs to see what we can do with both of them on for 60mins?

Personally against a vastly more techincal and possession based team like toluca, it is worth it.

Put in Szetela and Fred instead of both whenever you see them gassed. But regardless, moreno isnt there so thats my opinion.
