I wasnt sure if anyone had this type of info but in feeling really guilty in not being able to travel to LA this weekend, i was wondering if anyone knew when and which airport they may be returning to here in the area after the cup, win or lose this weekend i think it would be cool to meet them at the airport and congrats on a great season. anyone know this information or know how find it?

Can anyone who knows someone that's going to the Cup get them to confirm DCU's arrival time back in DC, and at which airport? I want to greet them properly as heroes, and I'm sure everyone else does too.

I would love to do this as well.

About 4-5,000 Caps fans packed thier practice facility beyond full at 3am on a weeknight to welcome them back from winning the conference championship in buffalo and going to thier first stanley cup final in 98.

    DCU deserves nothing less! :D

Don't you think posting this kind of info would be, like, I dunno, a security concern???? I think the idea of meeting them at the airport is great, though, so I'll check on this and let you know what I can....

Then again, it's not like we've got 20plus years of futility to overcome. ;)

    It only seemed like 20.

I would ask K but she's kinda without contact info in LA. But if someone who has a # for folks in Barra that can get a message relayed to her. I would imagine that they will fly into either Dulles or Reagan and most likely on Monday. You would only be able to meet them near baggage claim.

I think Sckrmom is our best bet. She said she'd look into it for everyone.

OK, I've gotten some partial information. I'm asking for additional details before posting. The team is arriving Monday afternoon, however, so there is time to fix the details.

not really, i mean we couldnt get anywhere near the terminals. they make you stand before security dont they, therefore there shouldnt really be a big security concern i wouldnt think. i mean i guess partially. we did have an airport welcome for Earnie Stewart when he came to DCU

That would be cool if 10, 000 DC folk take over the airport to welcome home the team. I'd love to see pics or video of that.

And for some of the WCQ teams, such as Honduras & Guatemala during the 2002 WCQs.

No, not at all. Aircraft take-off and arrival times and locations are only security concerns for the President. Not an MLS team or any other professional sports team. We won the cup. Time to come back to reality. ;)

Do you mean before security tackles you and puts a boot on your head?

It's the first building, before access to the mobile lounges. So we can't have anything when they get off the plane, and it's kind of a crapshoot for when/where they get to the baggage claim area. I'd assume that United, the team, wouldn't get that much of a special treatment from United the airline. So they'd be hearded around with the normal folk.

Looks like they'd be using Baggage Claim 3 or 4.

I'd expect that's exactly what they'll be doing. They travel on regular airplanes just like you and me.
