Are there any US players that will be missing this match due to injury, suspension, or to bad form?

As of right now Costa Rica won't be able to count on Roy Myrie who just had surgery and Gilberto Martinez who is injured and won't return for another 2-3 weeks. Froylan Ledezma might also be in doubt but he returned yesterday to action after being out 6 weeks with an injury.

steve cherundolo will be out and jozy altidore is recovering from toe nail surgery but he will most likely be ready for the match. I don't think we have any supended players for the match.

Unless Altidore is 100% match fit, I can't see the US sneaking out of the Ricardo Saprissa with a win.

Re: (Pre-match) WCQ: Costa Rica vs USA 6/3/09

    This thread is a riot.

It's mostly nationalistic dribble rather than intelligent, thought provoking posts about the match. Yet, it's amusing.

My wife's first international match will be at Saprissa . The stadium's eluded me until now, so can someone enlighten me about the supporters at Saprissa, say compared to Mateo Flores in Guatemala?

It was a messy scene in Mateo Flores with a 0-1 result, never having won on Guatemalan soil and only 1 shot on frame. The police were great in riot gear holding back a few hundred supporters from our isolated group of 18 in the stands but it was dicey at best.

If the Ticos win or it's a draw I have no concern about the supporters. Yet, if the US wins, should I anticipate the same reaction at Saprissa, for similar reasons as the Mateo Flores match?

Expecting the unexpected is always prudent traveling but can someone that's been to the stadium please clue me in what to expect?

Can we close this thread now?

The Hondurans and the resented turned it into a circus already. Why keep letting them beat a dead horse? Let's bury it and have it rest in peace.

Let the next one be unavailable towards those who helplped destroy this one, please.

How would that be any different than just continuing this one and doing the same? There's also an ignore feature. You don't have to read the posts of some people if you don't want to. It's made my BS experience much more enjoyable.

Let's just keep this one on topic from now on. If you aren't a Costa Rican or USMNT fan, and your comments aren't related to the match in some way, the posts get deleted and infractions start to come out.

Carlos Johnson will be out for some time due to a broken foot in last weeks Red Bulls match against Houston. So we're pretty much screwed at RB with Martinez, Myrie, and Johnson out. I think Harold Wallace has to be called up again since he is playing well right now and has a lot of experience in these type of matches...since every other RB in CR pretty much sucks.

Off the top of my head, I can think of Gonzalo Segares (Fire) and Carlos Johnson (Red Bulls).

Gonzalo Segares and Carlos Johnson are for sure NT players for Kenton. Badilla would be too but he has been injured for a long time. Alvaro Sanchez did great in the UNCAF Cup but he hasn't had any minutes with FC Dallas so he lost his spot. Daniel Torres is an option in defense but i don't think he convinced Kenton in the UNCAF Cup. Kurt Morsink was going to have a chance to be called up but he hasn't played in any games this season for Kansas City. Rodney Wallace of DC United should be called up IMO but im not sure if Kenton has been keeping an eye on him...he is much better than William Sunsing and Pablo Brenes who play the same position for our NT...and is very young with a lot of upside...hope he's called up against USA or at least for the Gold Cup before USA calls him up.

That is great, I had no idea that many Costa Rican players played in the MLS. I have always been curious about the differences in those two leagues I know. Saprissa is superstrong but I am curious week in week out if the players gain more valuable experience playing in MLS.

I don't like the list much but still think we should beat USA since we'll be at home...and hoping for at least 1 point away in Trinidad.

You should be ok as long as you don't get your seats at the South or North (Norte or Sur) of the stadium. Try to get your seats in the West or East, the fans there are usually calmer with more families in the stands.

well there was a guy asking for how many players we have on the MLS playing with the national team ...

just one at this moment Gonzalo Segares... but we have more players over there...

now we actually have a good team with some of the players doing their best on class b leagues on Europe.. but developing excellent... wich i rather...
two good examples are Bryan Ruiz who plays for KAA gent and also Cristian Bola;os for Ik Start ...

they are scoring and playing very good.... you guys can find some videos on youtube...

Bryan Ruiz wich is on the best players on the Belgium League will be moving to a better team next seasson.....

Walter Centeno who has played in Greece scoring against Real Madrid and Roma... now he is playing here in costa Rica for el Deportivo Saprissa..
he has p,layed in 2 world cups already... and also in a World team cup (mundial de clubes)... in wich el Saprissa took the third position ... beating the best team from Africa and from Asia... but loosing again Liverpool 3-0......

if you have question feel free to ask...

now for this comming game ill be in the Stadium and i hope we cann win ..
that way we will be very close.....

    See you here Folks!!!!
