    Final.

Useless POS game. Tonali was our man of the match. Made some mistakes, but was everywhere. Permanent starter for me.

Raspadori was exactly what this team was missing. Really needs to make the jump to a top 4 team this summer

    Sure now they win....

Friendly | Turkey 2-3 Italy: Raspadori points to the future

Giacomo Raspadori’s double and a Bryan Cristante header gave Italy the 3-2 win in Turkey, but …

Definitely didn't function as a cohesive unit. Despite putting three goals up, they really didn't produce quality chances for themselves. Goals came from a nice set piece, capitalizing on a mistake for Raspadori's first, and a deflected ball in the box that was knocked down for Raspadori. I also like how Raspadori plays with a hunger you don't see at all in Insigne.

Scamacca showed some decent hold up and distribute play that was nice to see, but there were also many instances which he flubbed it.

I agree Zaniolo is much more effective in the middle of the park.

    Ugly performance overall IMO

Barella - Verratti - Tonali for me is the 3 that should start.

Raspadori has speed, skill, and he can finish. Given the scarcity of decent strikers for Italy right now, that puts him well ahead of the pack. If nothing else, this game was valuable to get him more noticed and hopefully pushed up to a top club.

I also thought Tonali was very good. He's just a lot quicker and stronger this year than last. He's become a complete midfielder. Only thing I'd like to see from him a bit more is the precision long ball to open up a D (ala Pirlo).

Scamacca disappointed me. I wanted to see more fire from him. He gets down on himself too quickly and it affects his game. He deserves a few more chances to see what he can do, but we have to keep looking for prime punte.

Not that I'm discounting him as a player but what is the point of starting Chiellini in this game if they are building for the future?

I'm starting to think a Sacchi style 4-4-2 would work well with this crop. All players being healthy and in form:

    Paparumma

    Di Lorenzo ---?-------Bastoni------Spina

    Chiesa---Tonali----Verratti-----Locatelli

    ---------------Scamacca-----Raspadori-----

Chiesa and Spina attacking the spaces on the right and left.

Tonali is our only modern midfielder

I feel like these conversations are better placed in the other thread titled, “Rebuilding the Azzurri for 2024 and Beyond”. Mancini was confirmed by the FIGC and stated he will remain. On to 2024. Case closed, thread closed. ‍♂️

Dolla's understudies have no real shot at ever taking his place. In reality, his poor performance don't matter.

We should begin to integrate Pinamonti as well. it is ok Scamacca struggled some today. he ended an international fixture on the winning side, so it is good experience.

We must not give up on Kean. We should also make sure to give Seba Esposito chances to play with the team. Manuel De Luca has a good presence about him...let's try him out!

How and when was the Italia game against Turkey scheduled if they were in line to play Portugal?

Also not sure how fair it would be.

Denmark won the 1992 EURO having qualified only after Yugoslavia was disqualified as a result of the breakup of the country and the ensuing war but the Iran situation is different.

With Italy's luck, I doubt it will happen.
