We almost agree to the same line up the only change would be Costinha instead of Vidigal, we have to starter the game with two defensive midfielders.

Know I would have to starter with either Ricardo or Baia and today's game could decide wish one I would use.
with no Xavier you got to go with P. Ferreira
you can't play with three defenders against England in England

Don't be surprise if changes are made in the next two days, the medical from the portuguese federation is going to take a look at same players, and changes will be made, it always happens.

Ricardo Rocha -- not on the squad nor should he be at this point.

Andrade -- out due to injury.

Portugal will play with two defensive midfielders, Costinha after today's game will be in the lineup, he was by far one of the best Porto players.

    But it would not hurt.

He defends well. He is very fast and could actually control the ball.

I like Xavier, but I have to agree with Selecao, he is very slow and easliy beaten

    I'm not sure.

Not sure when the last time was....but he used to play back there. I just remembered that Agostinho said he was going to play a 3x4x, which may change some things.

Based upon the lineup at today's practice, it appears that AO may line up a 3x4x3 (as promised) with three central defenders and Baia (yes, Baia) in net.

    Today's lineup looked like this:

    Vítor Baía
    Beto - Meira - Couto
    Sérgio Conceição - Jorge
    Petit and Rui Costa;
Simão and Capucho (Figo did conditioning work)
    Pauleta

It appears that he wants to give Sergio and Rui Jorge the freedom to run down their respective flanks. I love the Simao-Rui Costa-Figo-Pauleta combination up front.

I guess Baia is the best keeper we have.

    That in itself is sad.

But the rest of the lineup I like.

In my eyes, he is No. 3 -- at best -- behind Quim and Ricardo.

I agree and probably #5 behind Nelson and Moreira.

We want to go with new blood and we still have this old geezer around.

Moreira still needs time, and Nelson is a little green at the international level. As I think more about it, he is firmly the No. 3 at this point. It is probably good to have him on the team to tutor Quim (who, I realize, is not there this time around) and Ricardo.
