Been unlucky one huge saved in each the first two games in Russia against him, he was getting frustrated and could of got needlessly sent off, but instead opens his account with a nice finish.
More worried about Fonte in Alves's last 3 games including that semi-final against Wales he has been brilliant.
what a tough match, im really glad we didnt underestimate these kangaroos cmon lets get cocky for a bit, we deserve to be such a joy to watch these players, smooth passing, move the ball up the field amazingly quick, dangerous players all around. not to mention the depth this team has at the moment rivals the best footballing nations in the world. what a difference from 2014, 2012, 2010 anyone who says we are not strong favorites for next world cup is retarded
Hopefully they will be able to play and communicate well with each other. Alves has been good as of late.
Man of the Match. Cross that got the penalty for the first goal. Chip that sent through Eliseu for the second. Dispossessed New Zealand and set up the third goal.
Good result, against a modest team it's true but Portugal has the merit not to have underestimated them unlike what mexico did and nearly costed them. Despite being an extraordinary player, Pepe will just never grow out of his natural stupidity. Apparently Neto will be picked as a starter against whoever will be the opponent next game.
Why was Neto not playing? A comfortable game to watch. The TSN announcer talking about CR7's hyperdeveloped neck was my favourite
Fonte--Alves-Eliseu backline vs a super fast paced Chile team or Germany? That's going to be a disaster in the making. Hopefully Bernardo Silva is ok. Great goal by Andre Silva, really hope they're patient with him in Milan so he continues to develop.
Maybe the biggest decision Santos has to make is Fonte or Neto with Alves, leaning towards Fonte (from Santos perspective) but it could go either way.
Alves is like your typical aging wife. She's put on some weight, a little slow in bed but she still gives a decent handjob.
And to think many on this forum and in chop universe wrote this man off once upon a time calling him washed up and a waste of space. How times have changed.
Honestly did not like him until about 2 years ago but Quaresma is not up for discussion anymore, in the squad without any hesitation, always glad to be proven wrong in this way. It is a pity though, that he was not this good throughout his career.
Queresma certainly could and should have done more with his career, but he has been able to make a dramatic comeback after burying himself in UAE. You can tell he turned around his conflict-prone attitude and flashy play style to become a team player. He's like Porto wine, the older the better.
Alves would be the first to agree with my assessment. He's slower, prone a blunder here and there but he's gotten the job done these last two games. Sure one opponent was decent and the other one was a laugh but he's satisfied everyone involved, Hence my analogy of a handjob
