whats going to happen is, lenny is going to take the chainsaw, cut off a piece of log, give it to wondo, and he will proceed to bite off a large portion of recently executed log. and there will be much rejoicing throughout the land.
Just noticed, the team this season is already 3rd all time for goals scored and is the only team on the list from after 2000. Basically, the team this year has by far the most powerful offense (statistically) in modern MLS history. 71 goals in 33 games!

Bad news on the updated injury report that was just posted to the MLS site today. Simon Dawkins and Ramiro are both listed as "Out" for this weekend. Hopefully this is just a minor ankle injury for Dawkins, as they certainly will want him available for the playoffs. He must have injured it in practice yesterday or today - by the way, that's one of the reasons I don't put much stock into not having guys play in games to avoid injury. They are just as likely to get hurt in training as in games - in fact, this year I think the Quakes have suffered more injuries in practice than they have in games.
I don't imagine that Portland takes too kindly to this kind of thing - "ensuring" that he's going to get the record. It's just not that easy to score goals, and when you "really try" I'm not sure that it doesn't make it harder / less likely. Although Wondo is averaging not all that far from a goal per game, they tend to come in bunches, and he may go several games w/o scoring. So I'm certainly not taking anything for granted. If I had to bet on a number, 0, 1, 2, 3, etc., I'd bet that he gets 1.
Portland beat Santa Clara 2-1 at Buck Shaw tonight. I'm trying to think of it as a reverse omen, but then, I kept waiting for Wondo, Lenny, and Flash to take the field, and it never happened.
--Lenny-Wondo-Gordon-- Salinas---Garza---Chavez -----------Cronin---------- Opara-Hernandez-Zayner ----------Bingham--------- It may be a slaughter, but I don't really care about the score or the result. I want to go all out offense while at the same time minimizing risk of injury to starters. Come on, Frank!
That is one move I still don't understand. Kicking the wee Scotsman out when he had just started to build a brand new startup doesn't make any sense to me. May they continue to suffer.

I think it had to do with more than the team's performance on the pitch. At some level, Spencer did not get along with Gavin and or Merritt. As much as I thought it was a bad move, (and Gavin is a bad coach) getting Caleb Porter was a very good move. So hopefully, Caleb can bring some style and improvement to the lowly Timbers. Just not when they're playing the Quakes!! GO QUAKES!! - Mark
...and, here it is. They are basically saying "over my dead body", which is really what you'd expect, and what you'd want. I don't think anyone, including Wondo, would want Portland to lay down and make it easy in any way. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/10/26/timbers-were-not-going-let-wondo-break-record
I will be heading out to Jeld-Wen in a few hours for a very "slippery-slide" game this afternoon! It has been raining for a few days here in the the Pacific NW. I will be thrilled, as all Quakes fans, WHEN Wondo makes two (or more goals) to tie and beat Lassiter's record! Mark, I'll look for you, not sure yet where I will be sitting, I'll ask my ticket rep to relocate me to the visiting fan area. GO QUAKES! Dorothy
Dorothy - I'll be in the visiting fans section, 223. I'll be hard to miss! See ya! GO QUAKES!!! - Mark
Hey everyone! I'm in Sacramento and looking for a good place to watch the game. Any locals know of a good place? Any suggestions are appreciated!
I'd say Bonn Lair in East Sac is your best bet. I'm not sure if they have NBC Sports Network though, that's what's killing me with this game. I'll have to find a stream online. Keep in mind, wherever you go, you're going to be competing with the Giants World Series game which starts at 5... You might also try the Fox and Goose or De Vere's.
I happened to be cleaning the sunroom so I turned on the television and caught the Frank interview. Wow, I don't think I have ever heard him so upbeat.
Any suggestions for San Jose? Brit?, Jacks?, Downtown Brit? I don't want to face all those stick ball fans alone.
We're all stoked for this game? https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/...akes-saturday-10-27-in-game-thread-r.1977070/ See you there!
Thanks for the reply! I ended up at Buffalo Wild Wings, they have plenty of TVs. The giants game shouldn't be a problem, no audio though :-( Hope you find a stream!
