Rather than do a new thread each time, I thought I'd try a thread for interviews, etc. This one is Alex Morgan with local sports guy John Canzano live today at 1:00 Pacific http://750thegame.com/pages/main Click on the live feed.
This interview is now available as a podcast on the same site. "The Bald Faced Truth" 1/17/13 Hour 2.
Here's the link. http://750thegame.com/common/global_audio/379/87547.mp3 She talks starting about one minute into the podcast.
In general, any thoughts on how well Portland's news media is covering the Thorns and the NWSL as we get close to the league's season opener?
They seem to be doing a reasonable job. The local Sports station has been getting a segment a week or so in, The local daily newspaper has been doing a little better. The reporters who do the Timbers are also giving pretty good attention to the Thorns. The Website has a section now just for them http://www.oregonlive.com/portland-thorns/
Today's article in the Oregonian is an interview with Dani Foxhoven. http://www.oregonlive.com/portland-thorns/2013/03/thorns_danielle_foxhoven_chall.html Also the status of the various allocated players coming into camp.
The first rule about CBA negotiations is don't talk about CBA negotiations! She knew they were on the cusp of the agreement but couldn't pinpoint the exact day so she was hemming and hawing.
The Thorns are starting to get everyone in. Only Morgan is still out and will be at Monday's practice. http://www.oregonlive.com/portland-thorns/2013/03/former_pilots_star_christine_s.html#incart_river

It's funny that the writer included the Sepp Blatter quote on women wearring tighter and skimpier outfits. I have noticed that since Sepp was quoted as saying that, they are...
Funny, I look at the official Thorns twitter, facebook, and website, and see no announcements about HD streaming there at all...
http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/nwsl scroll down to the 8th or 9th row of pics. It has a big picture on it.
Unofficial blog I have heard nothing about... I'll believe it when I see an official announcement. I don't deny that it might be true, but I don't believe it yet. Also, the Timbers stream the stadium screen feed for friendlies and such, and sync a radio broadcast to it. I'd wager that's what they will do for non-TV Thorns games, assuming this news is true, of course. Picture quality is good, production quality is OK at best.
Is it single camera quality, or multiple cameras? Does it have replay technology to show replays of great play, highlights, goals, saves, controversial calls, fouls, etc. ???
The stream for the Timbers is multiple camera (I think 3). It does do replays, but last year the transition to/from a replay was long, and since it was produced primarily for the in-stadium screen, the replays often went over significant run of play. I cannot speak as to whether the stream for the Thorns would be the same. They may choose not to pay the same number of people for the Thorns stadium/stream video.
I didn't want start a new thread, but I think the question fits best in this one. Since Portland has broken over 6500 season tickets, does that put them over $1,000,000 in revenues? Did any team do this in the WUSA? That's incredible, given no WPS could do that in total revenues? Have the other teams listed their counts?
I don't have season ticket figures for the WUSA, but there are attendance figures, and the first year for the Washington team averaged over 11,000 for 10 games. They peaked in attendance the second year at over 14,000 and finished just under 10,000, I suspect to get there they had similar season ticket figures. Considering season tickets start at $99 and went to $242 per seat, something like the $154 per seat as an average to hit $1,000,000 sounds reasonable for the Thorns. It looks to me like the $199 tier was the largest seller, counting sections. But the rest of the nwsl won't follow those figures. The stadiums aren't big enough. This is clearly a league on a smaller scale.
