Who believes in fairy tales? I still see references in the paper of the Burn's "holding on to slim playoff hopes". I notice some on this board have not given up hope yet that somehow, someway, we will get into the post-season. Thought I'd put up a poll and see how many really think this is possible.
What's the magic number? 10 KC has 29 pts We have 19 pts 5 games left So, we have to win 3 games and at least tie one while KC must lose all 5 of their games. DALLAS @ SJ vs Revs @ Metro @ KC v Colorado KANSAS CITY @ LA v Colorado v LA v Dallas @ DC
KC hasn't won a game since mid-July and if their dubious streak continues, they'll earn just a point over their 5 remaining games. If this happens, the Burn will need to win 4 of their remaining 5 games to make the playoffs. We should beat the Revs at home and KC on the road. That means we'd have to win 2 out of 3 of @ SJ, @ Metro, and home vs. Colorado. Winning at SJ's unlikely, but I can see the Burn beating Metro at the Meadowlands and the Rapids at Southlake. Playoffs, here we come!
oh my that does sound like a fairy tale. It's all gonna come down to what we can do and what KC can't. All we can do it cross our fingers and not have high hopes. I want a draw Saturday (if not a win )!
Its a different story if we could have gotten wins or ties when we had leads recently against Columbus, LA and Colorado. Jefferies was fired about a month too late. KC is doing a fabulous job of losing - but its too much to expect them to lose 5 more in a row.
All winable games except maybe SJ.. I say they win out and make the play-offs and go all the way!! Toni and EJ tear it up!!YOU GOTTA BELIEVE BABY!! Si Se Puede!!
Well... alot of the previous losses were winnable, too. And even should we win out, KC still has to crater. I admire your optimism!
Claro que si! As an act of faith, I put EJ in my MFLS starting lineup after having purged Edmond United of all Burn players about six weeks ago.
Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but Dallas will only win the last game of the season. The pattern is consistent. Every fifth game, the Burn have not lost. In fact, starting from the 10th game, the Burn have won every fifth game. It doesn't matter who their coach is. The consistency is obvious. They may manage a tie between now and the end of the season, but they won't win another until their last game. ... No, I'm not serious. But once I saw the pattern, I had to say something.
the thought of KC ending up out of the playoffs is just oo too sweet. HSG would have to eat two contracts in a single year. (ah, aguanta millionario) Not at all likely to happen, but just thinking it could has been fun. the only real fun we've had all season, except BEATING THE GOON TO KEEP THE CUP!!!!! now THAT was fun! Dallas Burn 2 Goon zip zero nada spent fuel
