I think it is though. It looks very simple to book one of several different spaces for different kind of events--and this is promoted on its website. The fact that we don't hear about any of them just tells me they're private events and not public events.

Anyways. I've pretty much said my bit. I'll bow out here. You've done great work, Kop, and are continuing to do so.

I didnt and dont think you were disparaging me. I respect your opinions.

But you're wrong. The thing is being publicly promoted.

Internally, I've debated whether or not ignoring the crazies is possibly more productive. But the evidence in my 41 years, is that turning your back and ignoring these voices has not drowned out these types of voices. In fact, its going the other way. But thats just my opinion.

complacency. it permeates our american society, from the embarrassing lack of voter turnout all the way down to being too comfortable to not speak with your wallet.

    this country needs an enema.

Wonder what SKC’s ten year contract partner, Children’s Mercy Hospital, thinks of SKC providing a platform for a woman who fairly recently referred to the complaints of victims of sexual assault as “absurd”, and incorrectly sees transgenderism as either a mental health issue or as parental child abuse. All this, inside the same building which shares CMH brand and treats area youth of all genders, mixed or otherwise.

    Intriguing thread. Thanks.

I simply hope everyone involved in this thread puts an equivalent amount of energy into talking about these issues with your friends and neighbors next fall.

Hey, I’d say lets start right now... With our own freaking club. (The fascists aren’t waiting till next fall, and neither should we).

But that’s just my POV, and I’ve already spilled a billion words on this topic and probably all here would rather hear from someone else.

I’m always glad to listen to others . Including my own soccer club. But, spoiler alert, they aren’t responding to me.

Does anyone know any non twitter contact info for Andy Edwards? Please and thank you. This was Andy’s comment on today’s Chelsea/Spurs match. Very soccer related. Highly relevant.

I am up for attending a protest at Pinnacle at the time of the event.

I admire this. But standing outside a cavernous building for something like this in middle of January doesnt feel like it will move the needle to me. I am trying to get the public interested so that SKC will ditch the event, or make the campaign change speakers. They still have time to cure this. Question is whether or not they care? Maybe if the media picks up the story, picketing the event would be better. Part of me doesn't like pickets in this scenario because I feel like it adds to the hype and just fuels the 'they're out to get us and take away our freedom' rhetoric inside the private event.

UPDATE: zero response from SKC, or Victory Project on this. *Surprises nobody*

I agree that getting the media to run a story questioning the Club would be a good place to start. Maybe some of our media members who post here or at the Blue Testament could start something.

I got a note from a [former] Cauldron leader saying “the event had been cancelled.” I don’t have anything more on this. He sent me a insta note on Friday but I didn’t notice it. (I’m
an irregular on most social media). So there’s that. Hope he’s right. Thank goodness. Happy Holidays all.

that'd be nice to hear. honestly, as much as i'd like to see the club realize the optics are bad and that's why they stopped it, i think i'd rather it be cancelled because so few people bought tickets to attend that it was going to be an empty show. that'd at least give me hope that our society isn't failing.

One of the webpages with the Event details has 18 Likes. They haven’t taken it down fwiw. Also, I’ve never seen the event listed on Owen’s events home page hwrself.

Yeah, and the campaign website is still selling tickets under the presumption that it is happening at Pinnacle. Sounds like the former Cauldron leader was lied to imo.

The Owens event appears to be going forward. The only change I see now is that the campaign has removed its "Fight" rhetoric from its web solicitations. Perhaps someone is looking in on this thread?

Anyways, I've attached a 6 minute video from a Nov. 2019 speech delivered by Sacha Baron Cohen at the Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) "Never is Now Summit." Cohen very correctly states, "Freedom of speech is not freedom of reach."

This is where I place this issue of SKC hosting Owens. I do not view the role of the Mark Zuckerbergs of the world as being so vastly different from the role that SKC is playing in this particular instance. (And yes, I do recognize differences in social media platforms versus paid-for events).

Actually they finally updated that splash for the Owen's event. It's going to JOCO.

"Purchase your tickets today to see the one and only Candace Owens LIVE at Fiorella's (formerly known as the Ritz Charles) on Saturday, January 18, 2020. Fiorella's is located at 9000 W 137th Street Overland Park, KS 66221."

Thank you for bringing attention to this, and whoever talked to someone to get this event moved off SKC facilities..

That's terrific (for skc) !!!!!! The fascists just venue change, but at least it isn't associated with the club.

I don't know the reasons, but I'm willing to give SKC a [very very very tiny smallest possible] hat tip on this until I hear different. New event venue is on same day/ time, which indicates to me that the campaign and SKC no longer have a contract together.

Very good news that the Club is no longer associated with this event. Hopefully we can concentrate on the upcoming season, and 2020 will start a push back by the voters against right wing extremism.

Thank you Mods for permitting this thread and giving us/me a little leeway. I know its an usual topic for this space (albeit an unusual soccer-related situation). I figure this screen grab was a fitting way to end this thread. Not sure what "threatening" online messaging the Foster Campaign viewed, but it surely wasn't here.

Also, thanks to Sporting KC for listening.

Nothing threatening in here, and I doubt the campaign came remotely near this source. I know there were some reddit and facebook discussions, so I assume somewhere in there was something mildly aggressive?

Side note, did the event happen at all? I saw something saying it was postponed for travel issues, but I didn't know if that meant by an hour or completely... haha. Oh well.

Google turns up a Reddit thread on this subject with My Avatar photo in it. Not sure how or why that happens??? I didn't post anything anywhere else, nor do I have a Reddit account.

I can't find anything else online discussing this. Owens' verified twitter feed makes zero mention of anything related to January 18 and/or Kansas. My understanding is that Antifa regularly is critical of Owen's events, but that's just regular standard.

So, I remain skeptical -- nothing raises the hype-meter like menacing words online + taxpayer funded security detail.

I did reach out to the second venue to [again] do some information share. I had a lengthy phone conversation with the "President" of that company the details of which I wont go into here. I likely would've received an email informing me of any changes to that booking if the event been cancelled. I rec'd no such word, so my suspicion is that they kept their contract with the Foster campaign, unfortunately.

If weather ultimately interfered, I'll chalk that up as a sign from the Universe which tells us all we need to know.

Cancelled due to weather. The campaign is looking to reschedule.
