I'm sure this has been done at some point, but a few weeks before an election I figured this would be a fun exercise! So, how do you score?? http://www.politicalcompass.org/
Your political compass Economic Left/Right: -4.75 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.46 it puts me fairly squarely in the middle of the libertarian left.
Economic Left/Right: -6.75 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.72 I don't know how accurate that is, I am normally more to the center on economic matters and to the left on social issues, but whatever.
Economic Left/Right: -7.00 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.49 Looks like I'm in good company - Ghandi, Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama.
Economic Left/Right: -3.00 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.87 Usually my economic beliefs put me a little more right than this, and my social beliefs slightly "lower." Overall, not a terribly off representation.
Economic Left/Right: -2.75 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.85 I thought I'd be a bit more Left/Libertarian. No wonder both major parties leave me wanting more, though I have always been a registered Democrat and will hold my nose when voting for Kerry. I actualy prefer centerist ex-military types like McCain, Clark, Powell & Ventura.
Economic Left/Right: -6.50 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.87 C'mon, I know there are some righties here?
Economic Left/Right: 0.62 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.46 Right where I thought I would be. Anyone else notice how close Bush is to Saddam Hussein on the "social scale"?
Here's where the US presidential candidates are on the compass: Edit: Jesus titty-********ing christ still no images?!
Economic Left/Right: -7.00 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.54 Compared to me, you're all righties.
Economic Left/Right: -6.62 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.79 I think I'm drifting further to the bottom left of that chart the longer I have to put up with Bush. It's funny how "left" I am on economic issues. That's probably mostly driven by my distrust of corporations, as I feel very strongly that the gov't has a responsibility to be fiscally accountable.
Econ Left/Right -1 Soc Lib/Auth -5 I took this a few weeks ago. I fell pretty close to where I thought I would, but I thought the questions were a little biased to the left, libertarian quadrant. With everyone reporting so far that they have fallen in that quadrant, emphasizes my point. It's been a while, but the questions like, "Do you think a corporation is only accountable to the shareholder?" are going to bring up an obvious "no" from everyone but the extremely radical free-marketer. The poll was kind of fun, but I'm not convinced it was terribly accurate. Quango
