Poland Up to 17th in FIFA Rankings

    Not that I put much weight into the FIFA rankings, but Poland moved up 5 places to 17th place. This is the highest Poland has ever been in the FIFA rankings since FIFA started ranking teams in 1993.

    I hate the FIFA rankings too but its about time we passes teams like Costa Rica... :rolleyes:

    if nothing else the rankings determine what seed a team gets when the draw comes for qualifications to major tournaments

    Over the last 20 years Poland was ranked low and was seeded as a third best team in a group (having to play against two quality teams) and hence we never qualified for the WC

    now that Poland is getting better we're the second seed in a group giving us a better chance of making it out of our group

    if we maintain our level of play we should be in a position to have a shot at making the WC more often and maybe even making the EC
