The Rapids brought their away supporters. Can clearly see them on the tele, waving the blue and black flags...

May have gotten some bad info. Might want to revise down my prediction a tad.

    wow

that might be the single most inflated attendance number in the history of MLS

Of course, looking at the reported number, 10K is pretty darn impressive for KC, considering where they've been in years past, and what the weather was like. So its a goodnews-badnews situation. The bad news is: the stadium was empty. The good news is: 10K is a quality number, especially if they really did manage to sell that many tickets.

The Chicago match just kicked off, and the crowd looks and sounds great. Some sections look like they don't have a single empty seat!

During the course of the match didn't it seem like the crowd doubled in size?

Remember that 10k looks MUCH worse in a huge stadium like Arrowhead.

Watching FSW it did look like a LOT less, but maybe there's a place to hide from the cold wind?

What a great crowd in Chicago! Positively European in its intensity!

were you watching the game on espn? i could have sworn Rob said "27 thousand," but then they started talking about fouls, so i think he actually said "27 fouls and."

There was not 10712 people at the head last night. It looked alot smaller becuase everyone was grouped in the middle all the way to the top. The crowd was probably only 7000 tops. One big differance I noticed last night at the Head, no kids! Usually there is nothing but little brats running around not watching the game. Not last night, all adults being very passionate about the game.

I made the same mistake when I was listening. My first thought was attendance, but then I realized it was about fouls.

That is _exactly_ what happened. Had the same experience.

The far side endzone (the non-Section 8 side) was blocked off, so the rest of the lower bowl was pretty packed.

15,312 very loud fans. TV crew was repeating a comment from Sarachan that he wasn't really worried about the tema coming out complacent as the crowd wouldn't let the team do so.

Game time temp. 40 degrees. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

    D'oh!

I was actually just going by the pbp thread. My bad, though.

they could've announced 27,000 and still been less inflated than KC, though ;)

Score one for Spoon. I got the stadium later than usual (15 minutes before kickoff), and there were a lot of cars in the parking lot. I guessed that there would be at least 15,000, probably more, based on the number of cars. But as Spoon pointed out, much fewer kids were at the game so more people came by themselves or with one other person instead of a car full of kids.

    How many in San Jose?

This is one of the best games (and crowds - not by numbers, but just the way they fill the stadium) I've ever seen in MLS.

    14 k plus
But the game alone was worth whatever the crowd had to endure (it was apparently a cold night)
