I know Wolfsburg were the club making most advancement for him, but apparently Liverpool, Man Utd, and Real Madrid were also all eyeing him and could pay that transfer fee without batting an eye

Oh God no, anyone but Manchester United - I would love for him to play there with Lisandro and Garancho, but the club is in constant chaos. I hope he goes to a stable club in Germany. IMO, best place to develop young midfielders.

Glad to see the kid's career is progressing, but madness that a replacement can't be used for the Pre-Olympic games.

Don't know much about this kid, but it sucks that he won't be able to participate in the Pre-Olympics. Hopefully he does well in Werder.

Luka Romero will play for Almeria and not for Boca. Almeria are dead last in La Liga but at least he’ll get minutes(I hope). But. I don’t know, going to a team that is battling relegation might be a problem. At least with Boca, he would’ve likely got a ton more minutes. I guess we will wait and see.

My understanding is that the decision is more due to Milan’s stance than Romero’s.

Boca was trying to do an 18 month loan (without the possibility of interruption/early loan termination) that included a reasonable purchase clause for them to keep him. Milan wasn’t having it as they are just looking for him to get some playing time without necessarily giving him away.

And so steps in Almeria.. 6 month loan and no buyout clause, just like the Tanos wanted.

Tbf Boca was asking too much.. they probably could have gotten him for 12 months if they didn’t push for their terms (Luka was keen on the move). I understand trying to find a way to keep him in the long run, but they should have taken him even for a season.. he’s better than practically their entire current squad

I get that. My concern is about the move. Almeria are about ten points off the safe zone, so they are all but relegated. I just hope he gets to play. But he goes for six months, returns and sits on the bench for another six until the 2024-2025 winter transfer window? Milan got him on a free deal, so I don’t know what their end game is? He shows a little promise and sell him for 10 mill to Udinese?

Yeah, I agree that Boca should’ve asked for a lesser loan deal.

And you couldn’t help yourself with that dig, could you?:D

I still have not given up all hope on him, but I have to say, when you look at what other youngsters in his age range are doing (notably Garnacho and Valentin Carboni), Luka isn’t developing at the rate he should.

I agree. There are players who were highly touted that became late bloomers. Look at RDP. Had a lot hype during his time at Racing, went to Europe, bounced around until he found his footing at Udinese. The most critical thing is that he plays. I do not like it that he just rides the bench or gets a game here and there and he plays poorly, the fans jump on him. He is turning 20 later this year. He is not 16,17, 18 anymore. He made a critical error going to Milan. There were plenty of mid-table clubs he could've gone and got games.

Already going to Lazio was a mistake. Big italian clubs simply REFUSE to play unproven young talents. They even loan out everyone from their academies. He should have stayed in Mallorca but greed and bad advice prevailed.

Lineup for today's match. Masche is making the same mistake again by not starting Redondo. Will see how the team does.

JUST an FYI to our U.S viewers, the game is being aired on FS1. Barco already looks quite good!

The team is so disorganized from the back to the attacking-line. We were lucky not to eat a goal.

Yup. Having lots of trouble progressing the ball from the back without him already. Zero playing from the midfield. That awful pitch is not helping either.

Brey really should have saved it but Mascherano out.
