I'm surprised he is not with the u20 list. He's a tremendous prospect. SM will be delighted because at some point a large sum of money is coming Tigre's way.

I think we will see Alan Varela playing for the national team. He is just too good. Young and a true CDM with good passing and tackling.

Barcelona are already lining up a bid apparently. They see him as the replacement to Busquets.

    Gerth training with the seleccion:

Nice! He suits Scaloni´style as well. He is aggressive and likes to win the ball quickly.

In about four years time we are going to have great depth in midfield. Which is great. You want as many top quality players fighting for each position and as cover in case of injuries.

Fullbacks are coming through, keepers. Forwards but we should uncover a couple of younger centrebacks in the u18 as the older ones cycle through. Perez was showing signs of a breakout at Udinese at the end of last season after being messed around as usual by the disaster Simeone.

    Where’s our local conspiracy theorist?

Gino Infantino? Gianni Infantino relative? More proof FIFA gave the WC to Argentina!

Gerth is going to walk into that room like this…

But Cremaschi is somebody the US wanted. He is born and raised in the US. I do wonder where his talent level is compared to the kids. I guess we will find out soon enough.

You mean players like Cuti, Licha, Julian, Enzo, Molina, and pretty much everybody on the team? Messi left as a youngster and Dibu left as a teenager.

You like that? How about this?

Lol. It's Argentines who get poached. Italy have done it before and so have France. Spain are constantly sniffing about given the diaspora. Mexico, Paraguay etc, etc. A couple of years ago England were even considering naturalizing Emi Martinez.

Youth development bad ? The conveyor belt never ends. Felipe Rodriguez-Gentile a fifteen year old striker is a perfect example. Born in Brazil to Argentine parents who moved to Spain and who was picked up Preston North End at a schools tournament.

Has been scoring regularly in their youth team and in the Youth FA Cup. So much so that PL clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool are putting out feelers to sign him.

Who is Felipe Rodriguez-Gentile? Manchester United want Preston talent (unitedinfocus.com)

He is one the u17 should look out for if keeps developing. Two footed and despite his short stature very good header of the ball. Love the way he is described as Brazilian by one publication, Argentine by another. He is Argentine.

I saw that these two u17 talents FROM MLS..... Also garnacho......luka Romero been born in different country's..... So I was getting this impression.....

Also was reading some articles a year ago that youth development is rotten in Argentina and AFA is corrupt and don't invest in youth facilities or elite academies/grassroot football generally.

They also compared the export of argentine players compared to brazil players over to Europe..... Were like 15 years ago more Argentines played in Europe compared to Brazilians...... After 2014 its all in favor for brazil and argentine declined..... They mentioned that it has also to do with bad youth infrastructure / development over the clubs.

I mean I also can not see things getting better in argentina as far as i know.... Argentina is very very hard hit economy wise.

When will people understand that strong economies does not = strong football teams

Historically, many of the countries with strong economies have been terrible, while many of the “poor” nations have found success

    Very dumb argument.

Anyway, if you follow Argentine football even a little, you would know Argentina in recent years has had their best pool of youngsters since the early 2000s. Perhaps there was a dip earlier last decade, but we’re going through an incredible moment right now with the amount of talent popping up left and right

Wouldn't say that.... Germany invested a lot in youth after disaster around the era 2000. They got really strong teams out of that year's later and were WC champions 2014..... Part of that is youth development. Same story for france.

So that's not a dumb comment but facts...... Otherwise if you get good players without structure or good youth development..... It's more luck

The structure of youth football in Argentina is based around the neighbourhoods and small pitches learning ball skills and a plethora of amateur but talented junior coaches. All the clubs in the large urban areas are constantly scouting and looking, listening to the word on the street and former players and these youth coaches before bringing the best into their academies.

It's not formalized as in Europe, or require large finances but it works. You get a constant cycle of youth coaches from clubs and high level professionals moving into coaching and management building on what they already have.

Economics have nothing to do with player production in football as unlike some sports all you need is a pair of goalposts, a pitch and something to kick.

Germany have been grouped in the last two world cups and had a mediocre Euro campaign in between. What happened to all that amazing investment in youth academies?

A lot of it just comes down to luck, talented generations come and go in waves.

Theres a reason why Argentina has produced 2 of the 3 GOATS in the sport: Messi and Maradona. There must be something going on here in this soil.

Then you have Di Stefano who is maybe top 5 ever (interchangeable with Cruyff).

Anyway, didn’t Argentina have an economic collapse around 2001? A few years later (2005-2008) an amazing generation of Messi, Di Maria, Aguero, Higuain, Mascherano, Zabaleta, and Lavezzi emerged.

These things are so hard to predict.

The kid also wants to represent Argentina. But pretty interesting that he was called up by Aimar to the Sub 17s as a 14 year old.

Just as long as he's not another Freddy Adu, who also signed at 14, lol.
