Sarri sucked, no question there. It was a bad appointment and in the end a good firing. The team is also poorly constructed. But I would find it hard to argue that Ronaldo is helping at this point.
Bayern showing no rust. Definitely have to be considered among the top favorites at this point. And to think that this team is adding Sane to the mix next season: that's just scary potentially.
These are quotes going around on Twitter, not sure when Pirlo said it but sharing anyway "Juventus lacked quality in the middle. They bought Ronaldo but didn't know how to get the ball to him"... Im not defending CR but imo Juve as a whole dont attack well as a team
I definitely agree there. But I also think one of those issues was/is trying to make everything work around an aging player who should be playing as a #9 but doesn't want to and honestly might not be all that good there.
An ageing player but also a freak and they havent found the right system for CR, some of the matches that i saw Ronaldo was playing more like a winger ala 2004-06.
IMO Dybala is probably the best player they have, and they hamstring him a bit. Though at times this season he has made it work anyways, and I felt like he was the key to making Ronaldo work in general inside the team. I am curious what Pirlo does. I doubt Ronaldo is leaving and he still have qualities that can make him an effective player, so let's see what Pirlo can do.

Pretty amazing to me how there still can any type of argument whether this being a pk. As clear and undisputed call as it gets... Probably gonna get hate from Messi fan boysBut that isn't a penalty.https://t.co/l8cphi5dcS— Paul 𝕏 Manc Bald and Bred (@MufcWonItAll2) August 8, 2020 Messi was actually lucky he didn't get hurt (even if Koulibaly didn't mean it).
I don’t think it’s that clear cut. Koulibaly has control of the ball and Messi sticks his leg in. If he got the ball first then yes, it’s a foul on Koulibaly, but it’s not clear he does. Think about the reverse: if Messi had the ball and was about to shoot, and Koulibaly stuck his leg in without touching the ball and Messi kicked it, would it be a foul on Messi?
Messi clearly got the jump on Koulibaly: he was clever and fast and made Koulibaly look slow and clumsy in this instance. And furthermore, Messi never fouled him to begin with and KK kicked him (albeit inadvertently) : it's a clear foul.
So to my hypothetical, if Messi is in his shooting motion, Koulibaly sticks his leg in without getting the ball, and Messi kicks it, you think it’s a a foul on Messi?
As long as KK does not touch him to begin with, then yes it would be a foul on Messi. The fact that it is accidental does not change the notion that a foul was committed.
Atletico Madrid say two of their players have tested positive for Covid-19 before their Champions League game against RB Leipzig in Lisbon on Thursday— Kaveh Solhekol (@SkyKaveh) August 9, 2020
That's not a penalty. That's a yellow for simulation. Koulibaly has control and Messi's thrown himself at his leg with the intent of drawing a pen. He didn't try to win/keep possession.
What does playing the ball have to do with it though? If you kick someone, regardless of where the ball is, you get penalized. Right?
No. Imagine a player is about to hit a long pass and someone closes them down with their boot at knee level, leaves their foot in place and the player's follow through creates contact, that's not a foul on the player who was playing the ball. Messi is the defender in this situation. Worst case, this should have been a no call. A travesty that Messi conned a pen out of the officials.
is it 2 players? Or 2 members of their group? If it's 2 members of their group, guess that could mean any of their back staff https://www.espn.com/soccer/atletic...ahead-of-champions-league-match-vs-rb-leipzig
