I love the history lesson from games I was unable to attend (like the CO game you mention). Would be interesting to hear the story of why the Foxes didn't come.

People give me too much credit some times for knowing games. Sam knows more about this then I think I ever will.

It comes and goes. There are huge gaps in my memory during periods when I was focused on matters other than those on the field. 2005 and 2006 are basically giant voids until Aug 31, 2006.

Also, though I love trivia, I'm terrible at remembering uniform numbers. Just this weird block.

Sam - I remember the early games and especially the ones at Blue Valley. That one with Chicago was a war and if I remember right McKeon and a few of the Fire players got into a tussle.

    Good stuff, keep it coming!

It's a real shame that you can't print the most memorable moment of the 2001 USOC game against Chicago. ;)

It should also have been mentioned that shortly after Stoichkov's goal, Mark Santel sent in a great cross from the left that found Roy Lassiter open within 10 yards in front of goal. It looked like it could be a dramatic equalizer, but needless to say, Rocket Roy didn't come close to putting it on goal.

Really nice read. I have been following the team for quite awhile now (went to some games as far back as 2001, but didn't really start following the team until 2005) but I still feel like a noob compared to some of you guys. Thanks for sharing the memories!

I particularly enjoyed the USOC matches in Parkville, probably cos of the beer and the heckling between us and opposing fans. There was a little bit of fan trouble at one of those games if I recall.

Sadly I will miss the USOC match next week cos of work :(

I was thinking more along the line of CJ Brown's preferred headwear. :D

Pretty sure that was the Seattle game in the previous round.

As Chad pointed out on the Facebook comments, the Chicago match was the one where Eric Wynalda gave us the "L for loser" sign, but had it backwards. Stay classy, Waldo...

Looking back at the 2004 results and I realize how much fun that cup run was.

For some reason, I still have video clips of all 4 KC goals against Atlanta.

Our 2nd match was the 4-0 pasting of Dallas, while sharing a section with the group of 8-10 Dallas fans that made the drive up. They got there late, and the only room they could find was in the back row of the Cauldron section.

The semifinal game against San Jose was the "Craig Waibel" game. (WAAAIIBEEEEEL!!)

...and of course the final was awesome too. I can still see that shot hitting the keeper's hand, then the crossbar, then off the back of his head and into the net.

I remember some older woman complaining that our drumming was too difficult to clap along with. We figured out that she didn't realize that there were Dallas fans behind us that were doing their own thing, and she was trying to clap along to two totally different beats.

Oh that was not scuffle that was high quality motivational speaking done by me in first half. Then Mr. Tuff guy, who played much better in the second half and was trying to tell me how great of a job I did (and the job he did as well) after the 90 minutes were up.

The Milwaukee away trip is my best memory besides winning it in 2004. Some of the home games were fun but nothing tops Mike warming up with the refs and Sam rolling down the hill. Particularly fun home games were Spoon vs. McKeon and the Parkville "fight".

The Dallas fans were game though. At the end they were chanting "We're gonna win 5-4, we're gonna win 5-4..."

When you can make the player on the field laugh multiple times you are doing something right.

One of the most memorable goals for me since it happened right in front of us (unfortunately college got in the way of me being at the 2000 semi-final epic win)

Does anyone have the video of the fan celebration following this game? It was on the internet for a while, but I didn't download it to save it. We were in the first rows of stands on the north side of Arrowhead at about the top of the 18 yard box, if I recall correctly.

    EDIT: Found it. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_Mof-_WXoc"]YouTube - ‪KC v LA 2000‬‏[/ame]

Who is this "zman66204" on YouTube and why is his name attached to MY video clip without giving ME credit for MY work... without asking ME for permission to upload it?

Yes... this is a copyright issue.

bust out the lawyer, and contact him through there. You might have better luck. Or contact youtube and report it, might be better avenue then an unaffiliated website.

If you have it removed, please re-post it somewhere (or share privately)... I have lots of good memories attached to that game and enjoy seeing myself in the clip.

Talk to Andy Mead... who will also be in town to shoot the home opener. Andy is the keeper of the YCJ archives.

In light of the upcoming playoffs, I decided to revisit the video from the moment we won the 2000 Cup Semi-Final at Arrowhead.

    It was removed. :(

Is Andy Mead around these parts? I'd love to have a private copy. Or better yet, could it be properly re-posted to a sharing site? I'm in the video going nuts and it makes me smile. Beuller? Beuller?

Coming back to my question on the Foxes, from what I've found apparently they had like 5 players called up by the jamaician national team and a rescheduled date couldn't be worked out
