Sad news for those of you who had other plans for her, but today swedish premier side Karlslund announced that Pia Sundhage signed a 3 year contract with the club as head coach. The club's president says they are happy and proud that Pia chose Karlslund over several other offers (I have no idea what those were).

Pia has since after the break for the olympics been associated with the club as a personal coach for some of the players and was instrumental in getting Christie Welsh to Karlslund.

    BEST DAMN WOMEN"S SOCCER COACH.

End of discussion - good for Karlslund - she gets to stay in Sweden.

I'll have to stop cheering for Umea.

Any chance they would offer her the national team head coach position next year?

If you by "they" refer to the swedish FA; no, probably not. Two times champions Djurgården/Älvsjö's coach Thomas Dennerby was recently appointed assistant manager for Sweden's national team and the general opinion is that it is he who will succeed present manager Marika Domanski Lyfors.
