I live in Ohio but I work at night. And I don't answer the phone unless I know the name. I have gotten a lot of political junk mail. And I am totally sick of all the tv ads. The poor local judges haven't been able to run their mind numbing ads.
One. Got a robocall from the GOP state attorney general urging us to fill out our absentee ballots and turn them in, this message paid for by the Washington State Republican Party. My mom's voted and I sure will, but I don't think you guys are gonna be happy ...
None, and I'm on the front lines of this election. Although there's a vicious sign war on every friggin street corner.
AFLette and I went to the mall this evening at just before seven PM. We got home around ten after having a late dinner. In that time, we had three on our machine. Man, now I wish I started a running tally at the begining of all this. Oh, and never in all the years past combined - from all candidates for all positions - did I get as much paper advertising in the mail as I have this year from John Kerry alone. Sweet god, the Democratic Cataloge?!? Anyone else get this total and complete waste of really, really good paper? And to think, there wasn't one damned thing to buy in the 'Democratic Cataloge.' Damned false advertising.
I got that last night as well...told them that I had already made up my mind and they wouldn't like the decision I had made. The lady on the other end actually hung up without saying a word after I said that, it was kinda comical.
Same here. Some Republican called me back in July talking about how the democrats were going to turn the clock back on our great nation... Then asked if I was going to vote to stop the "Democratic invasion" in November. I said I was undecided. He said "Goodbye". Nothing since then. Hope I didn't offend him
One prerecorded message from the Chicago Teachers Union telling me about their endorsement for one candidate in my district.
Volunteer from the local GOP just called to remind me election day is Tuesday. Thanks genius, as if I couldn't tell from every damn television ad and the 8 pieces of mail I get every day from various parties and levy organizations.
Same here. I swear, if anyone calls me, I cannot be held responsible for any words that come out of my mouth. No matter which candidate, party, or cause they're calling about. I think it's coming down to this. On November 3rd, we'll all breath a sigh of relief that it's finally over. All the mailings, commercials, phone calls, etc. Then some of us will realize that our favoriate candidate/party/cause lost and go into "I demand a recount!" mode.
The mail volume is picking up. And much like the television adverts, Bush spews a bunch of trash about Kerry, while Kerry mostly talks about what he's going to try to accomplish over the next 4 years.
You noticed that too? Did you hear Bushie's speech last night where he said consistency wasn't John Kerry's long suit? hahahahhahahaha... i almost died. turned to my husband, "did he mean to say strong suit? i mean, i know he's tall, but a long suit?"
Ring, ring, ring... "Hi this is Betty from your local Republican Party and..." "Betty, you know something? I have gotten at least 15 phone calls in the last 3 days. I think I know when the election is and don't you worry, I'll be voting" "Well, I hope you'll be helping the Republican Party on Tuesday" "No Betty I won't, but thanks for reminding me again when the election is" "Oh, umm, okay..." Click. Do they really have to call me every fvcking day?
Not just phone calls...some Bush supporter just came to my front door. He handed me a brochure and I gave it back to him saying he'd just be wasting his time. He said that I should really read it, I'd change my mind. I said no then he proceeded to tell me that obviously I didn't see the Bin Laden video yesterday or I'd change my mind on who I should vote for on Tuesday.
I didn't get any phone calls here in Michigan until Thursday. Suddenly, I've been hit with 5 calls in the past two days. One from Laura Bush, 3 from other pro-Republican groups, and one pro-Democrat. The pro-Democrat message was so incoherent and rambling that I didn't even realize it was pro-Democrat until I rewinded it and listened 3 times.
None. Then again, Massachusetts is not what you'd call a swing state. However, the TV broadcasts are getting heavily polluted with ads aimed north of the border.
My wife and I have now received a total of six calls in three days. I'd leave the phone off-hook for the weekend!
