http://odfcnews.com/2014/02/22/phoenix-fc-season-tickets-sale/ You one of the 'handful,' Matt? (I would also take this as slightly ominous news, wouldn't you? If you offered last year's season ticket holders 30% off their season tickets for this year and they weren't interested enough to get in on that, what does that say about you?)
IF you had a viable stadium situation and that high-end ticket came with amenities, it would be potentially worthwhile (the cost of something is not necessarily equivalent to its value). But that isn't the case here. But I think some changes are afoot, so we'll see what happens.
http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/TicketPurchase?pid=7670763&agency=PEORIA_SPORTS The number of available seats decreased from 4122 to 4111 in the last ~24 hours.
I haven't heard back from Phoenix FC (not that I expected to over the weekend), but even with the discount I'm not sure I'll buy season tickets. Definitely not until they sign some players or there is some evidence they don't owe players/vendors money from last season.
Judging by a couple of recent tweets from former Silverbacks striker Brad Stisser, it looks like he's signing with Phoenix. He showed some promise at times last season.
I have a feeling that when the dust settles, a lot of reasons for things that are happening will be made clear.
Yeah, good luck with that. There's still no place to play that makes sense. Just give it a few days and see what transpires. Some of this stuff may become obvious.
The article makes it clear there maybe a 2nd investor which maybe why they rejected the Brazilian. I hope so. Kenn, you old dog, are you the mystery investor?
Here are the details of the 30% 'discount' as e-mailed to me yesterday: Unless their financial situation improves, I am not going to trust them to refund me the money. I'm annoyed that they claim it is a discount when it is really a rebate; they even say as much in the e-mail. It also sucks that I have to buy my tickets before the first game to take advantage of the 'discount'. I have no way to check out the stadium before I buy. As for the Brazilian investor/Botafogo thing not going through, they better have another investor lined up. It will be interesting to see how things play out.
Peoria hopes adding soccer will cut spring-training deficit I guess no one told Peoria that the team has no players. The most interesting piece of information in the story is that they will sod over the baseball infield.
So 60k over five months (and 14 games) means about $4,300 a game. That means the rent is less than $4,300 a game if "concessions and ticket surcharges" also figures into that $60k number. If you believe the rumor that they were paying $15,000 a match at ASU, this would be an improvement. 39 days to the home opener!
WOW. You're right. They kind of have to have a team that, you know, trains together for a bit before they try and go play in Colorado. I wonder if they could get that rescheduled. That would give them breathing room.
I hope the guys who are rumored to be playing for Phoenix FC this season (i.e. Devon, David Paul, Brad Stisser, the Ghanian, the two Brazilians, the FC Tucson contingent, etc.) are/will be training together whether they are officially signed or not.
Confirmation Bowen won't be back in Phoenix: It's Official!!!! Signing a contract to play with LA Galaxy ll this year! #thisisLA #LAliving #homesweethome @USLPRO— Travis Bowen (@TravisBowen27) March 6, 2014 It would be great to actually see players signing with Phoenix FC rather than just seeing former players sign elsewhere. It's good they are finding jobs elsewhere, but it's just depressing for the Phoenix soccer fans like me.
