I'm not really sure where to post this, so I'll ut it here. I've been messing around with the new service called PhillyBTV that allows streaming of local channels for those in the Philly area. I've been able to extract the .m3u8 stream file for the Union-DC game replay so that anybody anywhere can watch it. I set my VPN to NYC and it is allows me to view the video, so the video itself isn't geofenced, just the internet gateway. It's a pretty simple process. Step 1) Download/install/open VLC Player Step 2) Copy this address (this is for the DC/Union replay - I have no idea how long this stays saved on their server!): https://vod.mybtv.net/528_522639_1598743800_1598751000/1280x720.m3u8?uid=-1 Step 3) In VLC Player click on Media > Open Network Stream... Then paste the above URL into the box and hit "play" It should start streaming into VLC Player. Keep in mind that this is just a copy of the broadcast, so the commercials are still present. Just hit the right arrow button on your keyboard with VLC open to skip ahead. Clicking on the video progress bar just restarts the video, so it looks like keyboard controls are the only way to fast forward. If y'all want I could try to post replays in the future.
New York Times article about Kevin Durant and the Union. Towards the end they get more into his trip to Chester. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/15/...on=click&module=Editors Picks&pgtype=Homepage
Article from The Guardian ranks the Union the 6th best team to watch in MLS. Lighthearted tone not ment to predict standing, just watchability. 6) Philadelphia Union Another team with a distinct high-pressing essence. They’ve turned into one of the league’s best developmental clubs, too, selling rising US international talents Brenden Aaronson and Mark McKenzie to Europe. Jose Martinez is a walking yellow card who plays with panache and fire, and there are few things more exciting than Ilsinho subbing on when Philly are chasing the game. Plus, their yellow-and-blue kits are one of the very best produced by an MLS club in recent memory.
Anybody get that new MLS TOTS Wagner or Blake card on FIFA? Man, that Wagner card is niiiiiice. 95 sprint speed and great passing. I might have to buy him on the market. He's not too expensive.

Ernst telling the truth about MLS unfairly tilting the playing field in favor of LAFC. Makes me question my support of a league that lacks honest competition. Interesting interview with #DOOP sporting director Ernst Tanner in kicker on Bale & Chiellini signing TAM deals with #LAFC. “I feel fooled. Especially, as both were signed as TAM players in the middle of the season, who can only make $1.6m. That takes some believing.”— Manuel Veth (@ManuelVeth) July 10, 2022
Well at least the league didn't throw in an expansion franchise this time! (that we know of anyway ...)
Miami apparently pulled their shenanigans without league knowledge, so these LAFC contracts may be even worse if they're league-sanctioned subterfuge at the expense of other teams and fair competition.
As soon as I saw Bale to LAFC I immediately thought that they had to be circumventing the rules. It just doesn't pass the sniff test. At all.

From The Inquirer: Why Aren't There More Union Fans? Our Writers Debate Philly Fandom https://www-inquirer-com.cdn.amppro...soccer-popularity-philly-sports-20220913.html
The league's marketing might??? MLS' biggest problem is that they DO NOT market their teams not named Seattle, Portland, Atlanta, LA or NY. If you weren't a follower of the league you would have never known that Colorado had the second best record last season....... I realize that this isn't from MLS directly, but the writer used to work for them: https://theathletic.com/3586855/2022/09/12/philadelphia-union-mls-jay-sugarman/ It reads as if Sam was told to write a story about the Union because they are top of the league, and to them they didn't think Philly would be in the conversation. It's not as if Philly hasn't accumulated the most points in the league over the past 5 seasons or anything......
