^^But he missed a crucial penalty! He is a decent enough defender but do you not see how much he just stands around in the midfield when Ajax are trying to bring the ball up from the back. He also does not help out at all when the winger on his side has the ball and tries to go down towards the goal line. That winger gets trapped by a double team and now there is now outlet. Yes, Klaassen makes very good runs into the box and for the most part is a very good finisher; Siem de Young used to do the same thing for Ajax and look at the trajectory of his career. I see Klaassen as the same type of player and probably will have the same type of career.
Not exactly. Klassen have better mentality and I think better numbers too. I am not defending him but if we played with Kuyt maybe we can have Klassen too. Not as a starter please no but at least in the selected list yes. We also need players with good mentality.
Amin Younes still hopes for Germany chance https://falebanon.com/2017/02/20/amin-younes-still-hopes-for-germany-chance/
I don't know the goal scoring numbers. I think Siem was a better finisher and was often used as a striker when one was needed. Kuyt in his heyday was much better on the ball than Klaassen ever will be but of course they are different position players.
In U-19 Champions League action, Ajax dispatched Dynamo Kiev 3-0. Sierhuis with two goals brings his total to eight and that leads the competition. Dani de Wit had the other Ajax tally.
Maybe Klaassen would follow the trajectory of Wijnaldum. Gino wasn't high on anybody's list despite his pretty decent scoring record with PSV... he had glaring weaknesses when it came to beating his defenders and incisive passing, among others. He caused too many heartburn and frustration, and when he finally over-grew Eredivisie, he "only" managed to secure a move to an ultimately-relegated Newcastle. Like Gino, Klaassen is a man without position but he is a tireless horse and has awesome work ethic. Maybe, just maybe... under the right setup and manager, he can thrive. He won't be a world-beater, we've made peace to that fact a long time ago, but he can still be serviceable for the Dutch NT for many years to come. There are many examples of decent complementary players who, every now and then, would step up and make a difference, e.g. Heitinga, Mathijsen, Afellay in recent memory.
i agree Siem was a much better finisher. Was also clutch - scored some big goals for ajax that help seal the title
Another nail biting 1-0 win. When will this team win a game in a convincing manner. Stupid cards now have the right side of the defense suspended for the next match. there were a number of chances created in the second half that just were not finished off. Good teams take care of business but Ajax are not a good team right now. Player Ratings: Onana (7.5) - had to be on top of his game and came up with several nice saves though he had to do a lot of kicking out as Ajax still have trouble moving the ball out of the defensive half Viergever (7.5) - right place to finish off the chance for the game winner and had some good interventions of defense Riedewald (7) - decent positioning and defended well Sanchez (7) - half point off for the dumb dissent that gets him suspended for the next match Veltman (6.5) - half point off for reckless tackle that gets him suspended for the next match Schöne (6) - hardly a factor in this match Ziyech (5) - really poor defending giving the Legia MF a free shot on goal and how can you miss when your team has a 5 on 1? el Capitan (6.5) - OK match with some nice touches for a change Younes (7) - best of all the forwards Dolberg (4.5) - yes he didn't get any support but he also tried to make plays when there was not one to be made Traore (5) - average no better Nouri (5.5) - on late for Dolberg and had a very nice intervention deep in the defensive half to break up a dangerous play The draw for the next round takes place tomorrow and there is no seeding or country restrictions so Ajax could very well draw ManU.
We played like sh*t and the "coach" makes only one sub, leaving totally useless players like Ziyech on the pitch. And this Traore guy isn't worth whatever Ajax pays for him.
Ziyech is showing how weak the league has become...It was still a bit respectable few years ago when Mertens and Eriksen were there, but now that Ziyech is getting the Eredivisie best player title and doesn't have any foreign club ready to pay 10mo for him, it's a sign,.. He is a nice footballer but nothing more, that's why the moroccan coach (who is a good tactician) isn't really interested in him. He's not the "future great playermaker of Oranje" people thought he could be.
Kopenhagen this season = 1 loss in 37 official games. It was the game away to Leicester (0-1) and they didn't lose to Porto (2 draws). Plus let's remember they disqualified Ajax twice in the last confrontations (CL 2006 and EL 2002).
Not sure where you're getting your stats, but FCC has only 1 win in their last 7 games. They lost 4, drew 2 and won only 1 game. Source: http://www.flashscore.com/match/8hjadoJp/#h2h;overall Unless you were just talking about Danish L., but I dont really count those results
So you're counting the friendly games and not the league games ? lol 1 loss in 37 official games, you can check it (22 league games, 12 CL games, 2 EL games, 1 danish cup game).
Everyone should settle down and realize that any opponent of Ajax is going to be difficult. They scored one goal in two games against a Polish team that was just getting back in action after a long winter break. Roll over FC Copenhagen???? I think not.
