The article is about baseball but this little snipit was interesting.

Tennis player Roger Federer and several D.C. United soccer players have agreed to try them.

So if any of our players look like they have a mean case of pink eye. They might just be trying to gain that little edge.

I saw a big feature about these on CSN's SportsNite program. They had a few United players in the segment. Rimando was one of them.

I read where they make you look bug-eyed. So, ladies, next time you think Benny just couldn't keep his eyes off of you, it's the contacts :D

Didn't see the other thread. Mod, please merge or delete. Sorry 'bout that.

Has some United content in the article, some plan to wear these.
Maybe Esky can find his mark now....

Brian Roberts first tried on his newfangled contact lenses about an hour before the Orioles' last spring training game in Florida. He ripped three hits on a day his teammates groused about the difficulties of seeing the ball in the bright sun shining from a cloudless sky.

    <snip>

Tennis player Roger Federer and several D.C. United soccer players have agreed to try them. The University of Miami has 20 athletes on its football, baseball, tennis and track teams wearing them.

Last week, I caught a bit of the comcast sports news show and they talked about this. I didn't catch the whole thing, but supposedly, they make your eyes dark red. A little freaky for opposing players.

If they were wearing them they should send them back, I haven't seen any performance enhancement the last few weeks.

[Insert typical rant about people not having the ability to read the front page of the DC forum to see if their late-breaking news has already broken...]

Sorry man, I got it in my work e-mail, I clicked it on, read it, saw the DCU content and cut and pasted it.

Won't happen again as its too much effort to explain it. Plus since I became a peon member again, I don't have the ability to delete anymore :)

Don't worry about it...a simple world class defender that will work for $50k a season will fix it right up...

Otherwise, I will trail you around Bigsoccer posting immediately after you that you cannot read and make duplicate posts and are otherwise incapable of working a computer!

    :D

So, in other words, business as usual ... a day in the life of a DCU Mod :D

Too bad Etcheverry didn't have a chance to sport these on the field, the "El Diablo" moniker would have had even more meaning.
