Pepi looks pretty good to me, comfortable and effective. Bad luck on the goal disallowed.

    The Augsburg midfield isn’t good

If he’s that late with a leg on a tackle it’s a foul. Why not with the head? This should be a penalty

Pomykal would be an improvement to Augsburg’s midfield

If any of the Augsburg players still had lingering questions about why Pepi is the most expensive player on their roster….I think he’s done enough to answe those questions today.

RP has been mostly on the left in the second half.

This guy Dorsch in the Augsburg midfield is having a shocker. Pepi does not look out of place, if anything many of his teammates are lacking for this level.

Pepi off. A decent shift, but with this many opportunities as he's had you'd like to see him get something. Still, not bad for a debut. He looked lively and involved.

I think Pepi will eventually be quite successful at this level.

He had some poor touches and poorly weighted passes but thats to be expected for a 19 year old moving up a couple levels.

He had a few chances. He could have gotten on the scoresheet. He’s going to need to start burying those but he’s adjusting, early days.

    No.

but we’re going to make objective observations

    FCA’s midfield is poor.

and my comment was about level of play. I’m not entirely convinced that Augsburg is a step up from MLS. Certainly is a step down from the US national team. Pepi doesn’t need time to adjust up to Augsburg’s level. He’s already at the head of the pack.

Decent shift from Pepi. Very encouraging moving toward. He did not look out of place with his smart runs and numerous opportunities. He made himself available and was nearly involved in every dangerous moment for FCA. He really should have walked away with a goal. Pepi was a little sloppy at times but that will all be ironed out over time. FCA has to feel good about his performance. Goals will come.

Pepi had a great game, especially considering it was his Bundesliga starting debut and he has hardly trained with his new team.

I think the midfield looked deficient because of the tactics which were dictated by Frankfurt's strengths. The upshot was that there was not a lot of play thru central midfield on build up for Augsburg. I'd say Augsburg was the better team in the FH but Frankfurt adjusted in the 2nd half by slowing the pace and passing thru midfield which gave them more possession. Augsburg clawed back with some subs and was getting chances late. I thought the draw was deserved.

    Next up: Leverkusen.

Had one early chance off a thrown in where he had to get down low to get contact on it but right at keeper. Did well to get on to it though. Is it just me or does Derrick Rae need to chill with his ridiculous enunciations of names. It's painful to hear

1-0 to Bayer so far as game is in the 22nd minute. Bayer has a boatload of pace unfortunately

    2-0 in the 25th

Pepi with a nice pass to Gregorich leads to a nice shot blocked for a corner

Augsburg not as dire as some YA teams facing the drop, but they are static and reactive on offense and defense. Defending especially, like they players are surprised by Leverkusen’s basic attacking movement

Derrick’s German pronunciations are hilarious. Very over the top emphasis.

Pepi pretty quite so far through 36 minutes. Augsburg is pretty awful, cannot maintain even simple low pressured possession.

I don’t recall Twellman on a Bundesliga game before. ESPN also had a pregame interview in German with some Augsburg bigwig with the topic being Pepi. I’m curious how much influence the US billionaire owner has over ESPN? Seems they are bending over backwards to promote his $18MM Pepi. I don’t remember such ’special treatment’ when other US Boys started playing in the Bundesliga.
