Tillman off after missing a good setup from De Jong. Malik was exhausted at '71. Good shift and did run and track back but needs to continue to build his stamina.
Agustin Anello is on for Sparta as of the 64th minute - and I think just took that floated set piece? #17. The jersey numbers on these striped jerseys are impossible to see from distance.
Game ended Sparta Rotterdam 0-4 PSV Dest played the full game, deciding to get on the scoresheet at the very end - with a yellow card. Tillman played 73’ and scored the important first goal, early in the second half, before tiring. No Pepi, LDJ playing until the end, justifying his presence with two very late goals, the first a PK, to emphasize PSV’s dominance. PSV remains at the top of the table, with 8 straight wins to open the season.
This is not a NT board but Malik and Gio look a little interchangeable - Dest is silky smooth and had some good D plays. I wonder what will happen longer term with Pepi given that De Jong starting to make me wonder if he is going to be the Dutch George Blanda.
Tweak the 4-3-3 to a 4-1-4-1 like PSV did a couple of matches ago and the USMNT could play with both at ACM! Balo Pulisic Malik Gio Weah Adams Jedi Richards MRob Dest Turner
Gregg has a spicy #9 now, who doesn’t want to be wasted as a false 9. That could get Gio or Malik on the pitch as a central attacking mid. Hopefully it does. Especially with Tyler out. Or he could roll out the same old 4-3-3 with M&M at the 8, and either LDLT or one of those other 8s he called in. In which case he might as well play Pepi over Balo. Pepi seems a little better with aerials and hold up play.
And Malik backtracks, and then trips up Griffith as he makes a cutback move, potentially blowing the shutout, as its in the box for a PK.
That was inexcusable by Tillman. He’s only been playing a few minutes so can’t claim he was so tired he couldn’t stop from running into the attacker. Gave away one of the few goals PSV has given up this year and is not going to endear himself to the coaches
Well, a positive way to put it is saying Malik, in his few minutes, made an impact in the final result.
PSV coach Peter Bosz was not entirely satisfied with his team on Saturday night despite a 3-1 win over Fortuna Sittard. Of course, the three points appealed to him and he also thought PSV scored nice goals, but Bosz did not like the goal against and the play on the ball in the first half. "The pace was too slow and I was annoyed by that goal," he said. Rik Elfrink 21 Oct. 2023 Last Update: 10/21/23, 11:13 PM Source: ED
Scapegoat He's been given a stern warning by Bosz. In this match it was without consequences. It was a stupid and on top of that a clumsy action to do. Against opponents in the CL it could cost dearly, or in the title race in matches against the direct contenders.
Tonight 21:00 CEST! Vermoedelijke opstelling PSV: Benítez; Teze, Ramalho, Boscagli, Dest; Schouten, Veerman, Tillman; Bakayoko, De Jong, Lozano.
^ Not sure if that was official (or a good guess) but Dest and Tillman both start - CL Marchday 3 @ Lens. Pepi on the bench.
