As an aside, this announcer is horrid. But he's got a British accent so he must be more qualified than any American
game done, points are shared. Dest wasn't great on either side of the pitch, Tillman was very impactful, and Pepi... well, Pepi honestly did change the way PSV looked up-top once he came in. At the very least, de Jong must feel him breathing down his neck.
Yep, they can go 80 mins, no goals, Pepi comes in, just puts Tillman in on goal, and then grabs a reputation/semi-legit foul on Ramos, and 2 goals, from kinda Pepi more or less. Excellent, sometimes just being there when good things happen helps to move the needle in terms of playing time and he was more than just "there".
PSV take the field needing a result to retake first place. starting Dest and Tillman. Pepi as Luuk backup. Agustin Anello on the Sparta Rotterdam bench as well. Dest presumably at left back given the personnel, Tillman more likely as one of the 8s in a 4-3-3, though the TV seems to expect him to play in front of Veerman and Schouten. Attacking squad.
Great tight space passing Bakayoko-Malik-Luuk-Malik for a one time shot pushed wide of the near post. Great stuff. On the ensuing corner Lang blasts one off the crossbar, and PSV have asserted dominance.
PSV ran a set play off a corner designed for Dest, but the pass isn't perfectly placed and Dest is heavily shouldered off the ball in the box. First time I remember Dest doing anything but being the emergency defender on a corner kick recently, so kudos to the coaching staff for trying a play for him.
Malik with the steal and draws a foul along the touchline, and upset about all of the fouls. The Lang-Dest show may be ruined as Lang might comeoff as a precaution due to a hamstring, good chance it'll be Lozano if he does.
1-0 PSV in the 38th min. Absolutely peach of a cross from his right foot by Dest for de Jong to head home. Beautiful cross but also a couple of nice step overs to create some space for himself to deliver that ball on a dime. Never mind… wiped out by a foul in the build up. Damn. confirmed via VAR. looked a little harsh to me as both were grabbing each other but I guess probably the right call if I’m Sparta.
Great headed goal by de Jong called back because Tillman and one of the Sparta Defenders were grappling earlier in the play and Malik threw his man to the ground while the ref had his back turned. The defender recovered and was marking Tillman when the goal was scored, but I'm not surprised by the call. It's a shame because it was a great goal. Still 0-0.
Halftime. Tillman would be an elite player if he had a better motor. At times, he looks like he is sleep-walking. His brain is all offense, he knows where to be, but he needs to also do the dirty work and help out his mids more.
And Tillman with the score. Took an extra touch (a cool customer) to put it away on the bottom left of the goal.
Tillman taken off at minute 72. At Rangers, thay got him to play at a faster tempo. Looks like at PSV is no longer a requirement.
