Poland should never have been seeded. Mexico is by far the better team, but because they're not in Europe, they only get 85% of the points of any European team, so they don't get teh proper FIFA ranking.

not for the ones who end losing, where more than one of their fans could suffer a heart attack.

Unless Poland improves significantly, i'm not sure I see them getting any points in this group.

I don't think either team looked great. Senegal slightly better, but their goals were the result of blunders to be honest.

Well the thing is that Senegal has a few better players in more important positions than Poland does.

I don't see this particular Colombian team defeating this particular Senegalese team. In other times, other circumstances it might happen, but today I don't see it. Aliou Cisse is too good of a coach to be surprised by a lackluster Colombian team

Not sure they are by THAT far better, but I agree that Mexico are better

Pekerman is lots more experienced than Cisse.

In these type of circumstances, experience counts.

You mean to tell me that at least one fan of each team that loses qualification suffers heart attack?

and they are faster... and more technical.... and better coached.... and... you get the point

Senegals goals were somewhat lucky, but they were by far the better team.

They are going to need to sharpen their attack and be more ruthless if they want to make a serious impact on this tournament.

Both Mane and Lewandowski with quiet games, for all the talk of those 2.

Did you put your money behind that confidence?
    Senegal +240 to win
Senegal -150 to win or tie

I had some of my tiny teacher salary on both. Also parlayed w/Uruguay and Spain moneyline or was it Brazil?

    Most interesting baby bet
Senegal to win the group +485 as my hedge if Colombia didn’t.
Just wasn’t expecting Colombia to implode 3 mins after the kickoff.

Senegal at +130 to advance looking good too.

Agreed on Poland. Like the Swiss in ‘14, they figured out how to game the FIFA rankings for a seed. Fifa finally responded by changing their system to mimic E.L.O.’s if I remember right. Poland isn’t a top 20 team let alone top 8, just as the Swiss weren’t in ‘14.

If it's ref's fault, do they "deserve" to win? They might be better than Poland, but the win should be fair and it's not like that...

you'd surprise yourself on the amount of people who suffer heart attacks due to big emotions, and sports aren't free of them.

For the record I expect Colombia to beat Senegal, especially if Senegal and Colombia win match day 2 matches. I expect Senegal to beat Japan and Colombia to win or draw vs Poland. Then again Japan shocked Ivory Coast back in ‘14 and have already shocked Colombia. Hope I’m not underestimating them.

Albeit when Lewandowski stole that ball you could see his class. Arguably did better than Mane.

IIRC on a really bad goalkeeper error.

I didn't put my money behind anything. I didn't know what to expect from Senegal. I said on paper they are the better team but was very uncertain of how they would play.

Poland was a tricky opponent because Senegal could have dominated the entire match, but a guy like Lewa only needs one half chance to take the game.
