Roma’s senior players insist to Fonseca: it’s a tactical problem, not mental https://t.co/mr1oKkThSb pic.twitter.com/rPr6lQqbv3— RomaPress (@ASRomaPress) February 18, 2020 Oh boy
Veteran players lol. We all know this is Dzeko being a bitch as usual. The only veteran players on the team are him, Kola and Fabio.
part of me does get the impression that other teams have figured us out... the way we lost against Bologna, Sassuolo etc was just by them bypassing our pressing game with long balls Diawara missing doesn't help, but if the team falls apart because one player is missing it is an issue (to some extent a personnel issue, to some extent a lack of tactical flexibilty) IMHO
Yup. And neither do Fazio or Kola. And you’d have to assume it was a midfield or attacking player complaining because our defense has been solid until very recently.
Maybe. But at the same how can we expect the coach to have the squad perfectly drilled in 2 game plans in only half a season. Plan A was just starting to click before the injury crisis. There is only so much you can do in training. The squad has to play together for the tactics to click so how can a half strength side play alternative tactics effectively right of the bat. We had just gotten a good midfield pairing in Veretout and Diawara and suddenly the most useless player on the team is playing there instead. Our injury ravaged squad is still better than Bologna and Sassuolo on paper, but if they are playing at full strength with the momentum of having the same starting 11 then of course they can beat us. Is Cristante just getting back from injury getting bypassed in midfield by decent Serie A professionals really a surprise to anyone. The recent string of games has been disastrous and the players AND coach must take responsibility for that. But to put everything on Fonseca and to even claim he should be FIRED for not having Milhouse and the B boys playing tiki taka is just stupid.
That being said, if Fonseca keeps on trying Cristante in the double pivot, that would be a cause for concern.
