ESPN 3 has the Corinthians v Mirassol game on their schedule for this Saturday. Thought that was interesting. Don't remember if they showed Paulista games last year or not on ESPN 3.
Interesting, indeed. Looks like GOLTV, Inc. may have sublicensed half the games from the Paulista/Brasileirao package sold by Globo TV Sports to international clients. GOLTV U.S. only wants one Brazilian match each round instead of 2. Brazilian football is strictly filler for GOLTV, and is more suitable for ESPN3.com which serves as a dumping ground for anything that ESPN, Inc. can't fit on ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU/ESPN Deportes U.S.
Note that matches are also live on ESPN Deportes: Saturday, January 21st, 2012: 2:00pm ET Corinthians v Mirassol Thursday, January 26th, 2012: 6:00pm ET Santos FC v Ituano SA www.socceraction.info
Mark Donaldson mentioned on twitter that ESPN has just signed a contract to cover the Paulista til April and he has been assigned the role of commentating on their first game Corinthians v Mirassol and he is likely to be doing more. Although he might be referring to ESPN Caribbean which is showing the match on delay which ESPN US contract might differ and since shown on delay it might not be recorded live their for ESPN3 will take world feed or ESPN Deportes commentary
ESPN International has signed a 4-year deal with Globo TV Sports for the Paulista/Brasileirao package in Spanish-speaking Latin America and the Caribbean ex-U.S. territories and possessions. http://espnmediazone3.com/wpmu/blog...pionships-in-latin-america-and-the-caribbean/ GOLTV, Inc. is the rightsholder for the Globo TV Sports Paulista/Brasileirao package in the U.S. and Canada. ESPN, Inc. is a sublicensee in the U.S. market.
Both ESPN3.com and goltv.tv do NOT have video of the Paulista League. One would have to suspect that GOLTV, Inc. bought U.S. and Canadian TV rights only without buying Internet and mobile rights.
