Potential seeding of teams in finals based off the new criteria. Not Including Mexican teams since we don't know their records yet. Including all teams that could potentially make it:

    1.Saskatoon, 9-2 (.818) (1 game left) (can finish between .750 and .833)
    2.San Diego, 11-3 (.786) (2 games left) (can finish between .688 and .813)
    3.California, 12-4 (.750) (0 games left)
    4.Cincinnati, 11-4 (.733) (1 game left) (can finish between .688 and .750)
    5.Calgary, 5-2 (.714) (3 games left) (can finish between .500 and .800)
    6.Louisville, 10-5 (.667) (1 game left) (can finish between .625 and .688)

San Diego is in the playoffs with a 12-6 win.

    Here are the Rankings now:

    1.Saskatoon, 9-2 (.818) (1 game left) (can finish between .750 and .833)
    2.San Diego, 12-3 (.786) (1 game left) (can finish between .750 and .813)(+50)
    3.California, 12-4 (.750) (0 games left)(+44)
    4.Cincinnati, 11-4 (.733) (1 game left) (can finish between .688 and .750)(+29)

    5.Calgary, 5-2 (.714) (3 games left) (can finish between .500 and .800)

San Diego, California, and Cincinnati are in and will almost certainly be seeded in that order, unless Cincy wins huge and SD loses huge tonight. Where the Canadian and Mexican teams will fall in the seedings is yet to be seen.

    Syd, any word on attendance?

Detroit and Cincy tied 3-3 at the half.

It was about 3,000, which is more than I expected, but I'm waiting on the official number.

3K? I read someplace (Winnipeg website?) where it said the were expecting 7K FOR BOTH. Well, at least they were "vibrant", whatever that means. Were they spinning?

The fans in attendance were wearing jaunty ensambles to the arena that night... it was fashion week in Saskatoon.

Someone from the International Soccer Network said they were expecting 7,000, but I kept telling him all year they weren't going to do that.

Why is "FOR BOTH" in caps? There was only one admission.

They did a lot better than I thought because I couldn't see any real public sales effort and I was worried they thought that they didn't have to do anything and people would just show up.

So they did better than I expected.

San Diego beats Edmonton 8-3, Cincy beats Detroit 14-4

    Here are the Rankings now:

    1.Saskatoon, 9-2 (.818) (1 game left) (can finish between .750 and .833)(+19)
    2.San Diego, 13-3 (.813) (+55)
    3.California, 12-4 (.750) (+44)
    4.Cincinnati, 12-4 (.750) (+39)

    5.Calgary, 5-2 (.714) (3 games left) (can finish between .500 and .800)

    Calgary won in Saskatoon, 9-6!

    Here are the Rankings now:

    1.San Diego, 13-3 (.813) (+55)
    2.California, 12-4 (.750) (+44)
    3.Cincinnati, 12-4 (.750) (+39)

    4.Saskatoon, 9-3 (.750) (+16)
    5.Calgary, 6-2 (.750) (2 games left) (+29)(can finish between .600 and .800)

Calgary outscored Saskatoon 13-12 in their two games which I believe is the tiebreaker. According to the CMISL point system, they should only need a split with Winnipeg next week to win.

The story on the Sockers this weekend from 619 sports mentions that San Diego is getting a first round bye, as well as mentioning that the Arena Open cup final may be included in the champioship weekend.

If they know they have a first round bye, are the seedings confirmed, including the Mexican Teams?

Is it possible that Louisville may travel out to SD as well for the Open Cup final that weekend? (Assuming SD beats Vitesse Dallas!)

According to the Louisville Facebook site they will host the final

I am HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE in San Diego. Just checking in online for a moment so don't barrage me with questions. :)

Vitesse looks really good. They are transitioning better and making good one-two passes, while San Diego is trying to play longer passes and they are not connecting.

This is like a CISL All-Star Game. Patrick Shamu is playing for Vitesse. Sean Bowers, Paul Wright, and Braeden Cloutier are playing for San Diego.

Frank Mbemeba is playing for them as well.
It's ironic - they beat Denver 15-2 in the quarters. A PASL-Pro team traveling with basically their amateur reserve team got destroyed by a PASL-Premier team with former pros like Shamu and Mbemba. No wonder it was 15-2.

Not bad first year for San Diego. Best regular season record. Hosting the final. They're in the Open Cup final. And they're in the season playoffs.

The LA Bolts facebook site claims they will be going pro next year. Bernie Liilavois (who runs the team) made this post on Sunday:

"Thanks to you all! What a great experience for these young players nobody has heard of before or any indoor experience (except Ato Leone, Kiley Couch and myself!)...Boys played beyond expectations and improved with every game! Tacoma Stars are a great team with a great leader in my good friend and colleague Greg Howes! We almost pulled off the impossible but the future looks very promising for "The Bolts" and I look forward to the months ahead preparing this new franchise for the PRO Division this fall! All the best, Bernie"

The Premier team played this season at Garden Grove Arena Soccer Park, another outdoor "arena". It doesn't look like it holds much, I wonder where they would play (I'm assuming somewhere in Orange County), perhaps the Anaheim Convention Center (holds around 7,000). Although there are plenty of acceptable small arena options in SoCal. Syd, do you know anything about this?

Yeah, 7K Anaheim Convention center.......OK. You know damn well it will be some practice facility that holds 400 on ratty bleachers.

I am posting what I would like to see happen. I guess we will wait and see what actually happens.

This is another warm weather location like San Diego, so maybe outdoors will work. If they can find a cheap way to fit quality 1,000 seat grandstands on each side of an existing Outdoor Arena Soccer field, and put up a decent roof or even tent that keeps the rain out, I'd be all for it. If it continues to work in San Diego, this may be the future cheap alternative for Arena Soccer in warm weather locations.

I am all for the bolts going pro next year. I think that would be awesome. Maybe they can bring back the I-5 Cup. A good rivalry between the Bolts and the Sockers would be so much fun. Plus La fans are much nicer than the Cougars fans out there. It would be nice to have the short distance so San Diego fans can go up and cheer on their team as well as LA fans come down to San Diego.

Here's some of the article on the last game though I think this is the only game it's been a real problem.

"Saturday’s game was made difficult not by the Drillers, who came to play a passive game and look for counter-attacks, but by the weather. Del Mar Arena has a roof, but it’s also open on the ends, and a first quarter rainstorm came in sideways thanks to some strong gusts of wind.

The result was alternately hilarious and horrifying, as the Sockers’ defensive zone turned into a virtual slip-n’-slide. It was almost impossible to hold footing, and the game was stopped for several minutes in the first quarter to try and soak up some of the moisture on the field turf.

In between players sliding into the boards like they were tobogganing, the Sockers managed first quarter goals by Cloutier and Ze Roberto to take a 2-1 lead."
