O'Flaherty's in the French Quarter on Toulouse would have Scottish and EPL usually, and a good bet for MLS. Also a place called World Cup in Metairie. If you are really in trouble send me an email to eddie@panicfc.com and I'll hook you up with some friends.
Just got confirmation that I am heading out. Not sure where I will be. We are meeting in New Orleans and then fanning out from there. Thanks for the info. I checked out O'Flahertys web site. Looks great. I hope I am near there.
Yeah, but BU and BC are not close to the academic level of the Ivy League schools (Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Cornell, University of Pennsylvania, Brown, and Dartmouth). I am also applying to a few of those.
Okay you got me there. Columbia would be in NYC - that would be pretty good. Dartmouth is in New Hampshire I think - that's too far from civilization for a guy from New Orleans.
Actually, I'm from Israel. Thanks for all your help. I hear Princeton has a good team. Is that accurate?
glad you are safe in the US. I don't know about Princeton's soccer team - I wonder if they play a possession game like the Hoops team.
Tim Leiweke of AEG announced their will be expansion announced in the next 365 days. YES!!! New Orleans FOR MLS!!!!
New Orleans! New Orleans! New Orleans! I might even have to look for a teaching job down there if that ever happened. That would be great.
Is there really a place called Algiers in New Orleans? I saw that in either the Mickey Rouke or Richard Gere movie that took place in NO.
this thread! This is my new favorite BS thread! I had no idea it even existed! I had no idea that there was even anyone else at LSU who had ever heard of bigsoccer......... Anyway, panic if you get the GM gig I'll be an assistant. Possible New Orleans team names: Bayou FC Rogues or Rogue FC Ramblers Rivers Vampires (Ann Rice) Carnival or Carnival FC (yellow, green & purple colors) Sinners Jazz Bourbon Gumbo Roux(Etoufette?) Crescent City FC Delta FC Rain or Rein
Re: this thread! I still like NO Storm - fits perfectly. Also when we were trying to name the Storm I had one that was something like the Prince symbol "Team formerly known as the Gamblers" Stopper4, you should check out all my threads - coolest on the site.
I doubt it, as I don't think they've had much success at starting another women's team of some kind. They've got tons of interest in men's soccer, but no readily available scholarships and Athletic Department full of football/baseball good ol' boys. The women's team is young and improving. George Foutopolous is a good coach. They regularly beat all the other Louisiana teams, but they've still got to drop 9 players behind the ball to even keep it close against Florida. Can we have a Better Than Ezra concert at halftime of the New Orleans ?????? MLS home opener in 04??
It might be UNO, as they are talking about Football and a soccer stadium. We wanted to have BTE sing the national anthem. One of the guys played for Baton Rouge United growing up.
Re: and the plot thickens! Though I don't want Louisiana-style corruption in my state, our politicians need more backbone. Governor Locke should tell Big Phil, "No long-distance service for QWest until you award Seattle the franchise that MLS promised 5 years ago!" Here's another point in NO's favor: just $2,800/game to use the stadium! Gormley Stadium rental fee to increase by $600; Clarion Herald (New Orleans, LA); April 12, 2001 http://clarionherald.org/20010412/art007.htm
want a hooligan? i just need a couch to sleep on and money for beer, smoke bombs, flares, confetti, etc.
Re: Re: and the plot thickens! That would be one of the best deals in the league, plus they would give a discount for multiple rentals. If Benson gets on this, they'll redo the stadium and it will a great place to watch soccer.
It all seems to be falling into place, if only Gov Foster was a known soccer fan it would be a done deal. One other thing, Benson gets whatever he wants from the state. If he gets this team, wouldn't be surprised if they give the MLS team the old Storm practice field next to the Saints training facility to piss off the zephyrs baseball team.
Doesn't Tulane use Tad-Gormley as their baseball field? Wouldn't that conflict with the first half of a MLS season? I'm excited about the Burn game in couple weeks..........
Tulane uses their own baseball stadium. Tad Gormley is only used for High School football, and US track and field.
