Another article on the same incident:
    http://www.dawn.com/news/1122143
"Two politicians who suggested reforming the law were killed, one by his own bodyguard. Lawyers showered the killer with rose petals when he came to court. ...
In the same month, prominent human rights lawyer Rashid Rehman defending a Pakistani university professor accused of blasphemy was shot and killed after being threatened in court by other lawyers."

Well it seems that blasphemy laws are popular among the Pakistani population.

I am shocked by the incident. I cannot comprehend the logic behind this inhuman act. My condolonces go out to the families who have suffered because of this act of barbarism.

Can't really say I'm shocked but I'm certainly numbed. I'm beginning to understand why some people go to live in the wilds of Montana.

This is a disgraceful act committed by desperate people. It will take a great statesman to resolve the issues between the state of Pakistan and the residents of the tribal areas, and unfortunately there isn't a great Pakistani statesperson on the horizon.

At some point in time these barbarous acts of terrorism by the terrorist taliban have to be addressed by Pakistan in a way to discourage it from happening again. These types of attacks are heinous but not really unexpected by islamic terrorists. Look back to the chechen terrorists and their attack on the Russian school.

There is no statesman that can pacify these terrorists, they need to be put down like a rabid dog which is really an unfair compasrison. The dog can't help getting a disease.

I have heard that Imran Khan is (or was) a Taliban sympathizer. Is that true?

"Peshawar is the capital of the northwest province of Khyber-Pakthunkhwa, and has since 2013 been ruled by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (“Movement for Justice”) party of Imran Khan. The former cricket captain and his allies have long opposed military action against the Taliban, arguing that it would only invite further terror attacks. Their critics, of whom there are many, accuse them of appeasing the TTP with peace deals that the militants inevitably break, while using the time and space to further entrench themselves. ...
Khan has faced criticism for neglecting the governance of the province his party rules, indulging the Taliban and failing to act against them, and promoting political instability amid a serious security threat."

The kids who were killed were from the "religion of peace", as were the soldiers that killed the militants. This wasn't an act motivated by religion, it was motivated by revenge as the kids in Waziristan are also getting killed by Pakistani army and American drones.

There isn't a religious motive or a religious solution to this - it'll be solved only by brave politics. Unfortunately (and understandably) there'll be a military response first. Whether that creates breathing space for a political solution or just gardens attitudes of both sides remains to be seen. But I'm not optimistic about the ability of the warring factions to achieve peace.

There goes umar with the lies. Numerous reports from survivors stated that the islamic terrorists came in and screamed God is great as they carried out their pre-meditated ambush on children. everything these terrorists do is in the name of their "peaceful" religion.

I think you'll find that there were billions of Allahu Akbars in that period.

And no terrorist group has caused more deaths than Americans over the last decade.

There's a billion Muslims in the world. Saying that the actions of a small number is because of their religion, is, frankly, pretty stupid.
