whoscored gives the edge to Dejan, 8.28 over 8.27.

    very interesting.

I know right. We were the better team and at the end we were like daring them to score. It was as if we were purposely playing handicapped in the name of trying to test the defense with numbers at the end to see how they would deal with it.

My bad luck that San Jose scored just as I posted that!

anyhow, on the game. Where did this Mark Delgado come from? He’s having a huge impact on our offense. Not much from Pec, which was disappointing.

very happy with the win! San Jose didn’t impress. We’ll need to up our game to challenge the better teams. Looking forward to it.

Marky has always had this in him, I remember him always going forward out wide when we were on the attack in possession. We just never had a winger who would make it worthwhile.
Joe's playstyle and effectiveness matches what Marky does perfectly, the way he cuts in.
In fact Joe's goal explempifies it.
Joe plays moving inward while Marky drifts out wide, playing a give and go allowing Joe to score centrally.

Preston Judd's teams are still unbeaten when he starts and winless when he scores

Subbing out Paintsil was premature. Their aggressive plays went downhill and Pec didn't really drive that momentum. I still have confidence in Pec. I would've thought Van would've subbed out Paintsil during the 80th minute or so. But regardless, love our midfielders!

    Nice win.

If it was me, I would have used a 3-0 score as an opportunity to run out a preview lineup for ~10 minutes to build chemistry (sitting Delgado and his yellow and Fagundez and bringing on Pec and Brugman), which should’ve been pretty good attacking, then I would have shut it down at 5-0 or 3-1 and brought in the defensive bench to finish it.

Let’s hope this team is great enough to overcome a mediocre coach.

I obviously don't understand the meaning of chances created. Shouldn't Paintsil have at least1 for the assist?

I am happy tho my spidey sense does not like the adjustments Vanney is doing and encouraging even a wacky team like San Jose back into the match. Tempting them to com at us. Hopefully he doesnt do that against better teams. We have to work on our ruthlessness, not our game mamagement, to a point.

I wish Galaxy would reinforce left back position and the CD. The talking heads were mentioning it's fine now with one game a week but what happens when our old CBs have to do two games a week and then other competitions and tournaments?

I’d like to see more of Nelson. And Yoshida had 2 and Caceras 1 old man moments. Yoshida’s were worse but amazingly only Caceras botched clearance led to a goal conceded. We need Neal back so those guys can always play with fresh legs.

I wonder if he's attempting to save Joe's legs?
I'm leaning towards he did (at the time), they were only going to display 5 on screen?

I was just trying to screenshot any stat graphic the broadcast showed.

Mark is looking great but for that penchant of his getting into the cards. But I guess one goes with the other.

Pec... may be a long term thing. :(

I don't think Pec played poorly, he was just on as a sub, which changes the entire dynamic of the whole squad. Especially when the 2 players who were subbed off were key to our entire attack (Dejan and Joe)

Yep I agree! Our best attack must include DeJan, Riqui and Paintsil. So to get the best out of Pec those 3 need to be in at the same time. Putting Pec in as a sub but then pulling 2 of those 3 limits our attack big time. When we are in more serious games we can't screw around with defensive test lineups. I get the need to try them out with the type of subs we saw tonight, but I wanna see the attack honed to razor sharp edge first and foremost in the first few games of the season.
