I'm so frustrated at the midfield I have no words.

    Also frustrated at the "defense."

Glad Chicharito got the monkey off his back.

Loving watching Galaxy soccer, hating this scoreline.

I really liked Dunbar too! Energy and decent runs up the left!

And then he was the first sub. WTF?

Now watching Houston's highlights. Thinking we are going to end up dead last.

That game is going to be ugly based on the team's performance tonight.

We played pretty ok until they scored the first. Our defense is dog poo. We can never have confidence even if we are in good spells because our defense can concede any moment. Both goals against had the feel of “schoolboy error” about them.

I liked Dunbar. I’m pleased with Wild.

it’s criminal chich only scored once on three sitters.

Pavon is wasted on this team. It’s a shame really.

we really didn’t reinforce the team this offseason. We have serious needs. If not for Covid I wonder if there was a plan afoot to make some more signings.

the Galaxy were never going to do well in this tournament in this group. Best we could hope for is yo get an idea who we are and identify some useful players (wild and Dunbar might be accomplishing this) and we add serious pieces heading into the real season. But, given all the uncertainty in the world, can’t blame owners for not spending. Who knows if we’ll play much more after this.

oh well, I’m the grand scheme of things this is meaningless. Stay safe all.

Most everything has been said. A big problem is the coaching, we look completely clueless out there. our attacks are largely individual efforts and we find ways to lose. We are so slow to transition, you would think this would be a strong point for a Schelotto coached team.

    O Bruce where art thou?

The opportunities for reinforcements were in the 2019-20 off-season. We didn’t scout/recruit defenders or scorers the way we should have. I dont blame FO for Chicharito (hard to get first choice big time forwards every year) but I do blame them for not signing offensive support given no other player on the roster had more than 3 goals last season.

It's funny - I know this tournament came out of nowhere, but I'm back to being irritated at the Galaxy like soccer never left.

First, I'VE MISSED YOU GALAXY SOCCER.

    Seconds:
    • Thank effing god Chicharito finally scored. It's done and over. Go get some more, and never take the penalties. Thanks so much.
    • Pavon with energy and hustle at the end of the game.
    • Dunbar - huh. Wild - huh. Both guys deserve more minutes.
    • Perry Kitchen was once again non-existent in midfield. I cry thinking about Dos Santos. I didn't understand why Kitchen was employed last year. There are giant holes in his heat map as a DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER. It is literally YOUR JOB. He has four defensive actions. TOTAL. I just...ijelfijafliejf203434riewojadsifasjdf. ARGH.
    • Sacha Kljestan basically had nothing going on in the final third. Not good. He made me miss Joe Corona.
    • Insua - woof on the two Portland goals.
    • ...but he wasn't as bad as Giancarlo who I'm starting to think we need to unload yesterday.

Seriously you guys, I've missed you. I know it's weird, I know it's cautious, but man did I enjoy watching this two hours of soccer. Even with us sucking. It made me feel like life was normal for a couple of hours.

Also - the crowd noise helped! I was pleasantly surprised just like @The Cadaver !

Playing with Kitchen is basically playing 10 v 11.
    Giancarlo is over the hill.
Great debuts by Dunbar and Wild.
We are in decent physical shape, considering.
    Lletget is not getting better.

This is the lineup I am calling for from here on out this year. Everytime I don't see it I am going to question GBS. I get Dunbar is young but so is Efrain and we played him tons last year. We got no choice but to use young bloods. Especially if they are better than the old heads.

    --------Pavon---Javier---Wild
    --------Dunbar--Corona--Llegett
    Insua------Steres-----DePuy----Araujo

    Bench: Sasha, Efrain, Zubak, Cuello

What’s our contract situation? When do we get to unload dead weight and REALISTICALLY build a real team? Apart from a few guys here and there, this team just feels like patches from other failed seasons mixed with aging journeymen.

I’d love to replace Gonzalez, Kitchen, And Feltscher with some real players.

Might not be a bad idea to upgrade and get rid of Bingham, Corona, and Lleget.

I'm also realizing that Galaxy soccer might once again be over in 10 short days. :(

Now that I have a taste of it I don't want it to go away (as evidenced by my zillion posts in half an hour)!

I think people are getting a little carried away with Wild. He is on his third team in 2 years for a reason. He’s good at some things, not good at others. Good for a spark of energy, good finisher, can make a decent final pass. Not great in possession, can have tunnel vision, and seems to have a very solid penchant for being offsides. Think he was offside 3 or 4 times in the scrimmage alone. Considering how bad the 3 non Dunbar MFs were, he probably would’ve been an upgrade. But I don’t think he’s the answer for this season

I'd throw Corona in there since he'll be back the next game. So leave Efrain on the bench and move Seb to his spot.
