We need Gonzo at CB. RSL is a good team and we need our best D out there. Also, I hate how stupid the MLS is and schedules games even though there is a national team game 2 hours before.
TrickHog's guess at a lineup: [LINEUP-4-4-2]JPA, Barrett, Stephens, Juninho, Birchall, Beckham, Dunivant, AJDLG, Gonzilla, Franklin, Ricketts[/LINEUP-4-4-2]
I think that's a good enough lineup to get a result. Here's hoping all of the injured/sick will be able to play. Wish Kyle Beckerman had been called up to the nats.
Forgot, LD is being called up for the friendly. I will rephrase my score, 0-0. Man, I hope we at least get a point out of this. RSL is looking very good as of late.
Any reason folks are tipping Barrett over Magee for the start? I know it's like a slapfight between penguins. But I'd take the shorter penguin at this point.
Heavy winds, torrential downpour, dominant possession, dominant shots on goal, the home side dropping points on a good goal, but somewhat against the run of play, or at least the tone of the game. NE vs LA on Sunday or RSL vs SJ on Saturday. Pretty accurate generalization of both games. Just like it's tough to gauge where we are due to the weather and pitch conditions it's tough to measure RSL. In their favor they should be a few games more in to their season thanks to the Champions League. Looks like RSL will be without Alvarez, Will Johnson and Saborio. Somewhat surprised Beckerman didn't get a call.
Love the lineup Trick... and it really makes sense. Although, if I can tinker a bit I would try and keep Josh in goal... sorry, I prefer him but I suppose we are spoiled there. Question: What subs and where would they go. Unlike a few others, I thought Cardozo.. though extremely nervous had an ok game.. he just needs some playing time to gain some confidence. Anyhow, Cardozo off the bench to replace Stephens if need be. What about other subs and positions?
Agree with the line-up posted. I think putting Cardozo in vs RSL would be too big for the youngster - I anticipate him being a second half sub if Stephens can't make it the full 90. But this will be an interesting test - if Stephens performs, do we get LD up top with Angel the week after? And for the love of god, JPA, please score.
Even though I am the biggest Magee critic on here (at least self-proclaimed), I'd start him over Barrett. Mainly because he does have nice passes and positioning. This I think would help Angel get into a more threatening position. But I'd go with a 4-2-3-1 instead of relying on a sub-par striker. I think having a low-grade striker over a more well equipped midfield player is just useless to me. Nevertheless, if I had to choose I'd go with Magee. But alas, the differences aren't that great between the two... unfortunately!
You call that cold? The snow level is going to be 5200 feet, or so says noaa.gov. Rio Tinto is at 4400 or so.
Yeah, he actually had to have knee surgery and is now on injured reserve or something. Not eligible to come back until end of April or something like that.
