Can't pass up page 1. Everyone rested and TOOK three points at RSL. No Brad Davis for HOU, so I am sure that any result will be tainted as was MLS CUP 2011 and I won't care!
No Davis and Houston’s away form has been poor. Interesting note, the first rematch of the previous season’s MLS Cup has only been won by the cup holder four times, they’ve lost ten times and tied twice. The boys will need to be at the very top of their game to get a result out of this game.
Spot on, Dash. So they have a major loss of Davis because of that red card. That's the trap RSL fell into when they saw LAG show up without some stars. I expect Bruce will get the boys focused, but human* nature being what it is.... *NB: comment not applicable to Mike Magee
What's up with the 8pm start on a Sunday night? I don't expect too many people showing up for this one, with Game of Thrones on at 9. I don't see too many kids coming to this one either.
Must be a late start for TV? Is this getting picked up by ESPN or NBCSN? Game of Thrones? Really? That's going to impact the crowd? Boy, am I out of the loop.
Yeah, I dislike Sunday games at the best of times, my brain has been trained to think I have a day off after a game, 8pm is rubbing salt in the wounds. Probably won’t actually kick-off until 8:15; final whistle 10:15; 10 minute walk to the boonies; 60 minute drive … let’s just hope the lights don’t go out again. Old guys like me with East coast clients, that’s way past my bedtime. Is it just me or have we had a ton of Sunday games this season? This is what the third Sunday match out of 5 home league games this season? And our next home game is a Sunday … huh 5 of the remaining 13 games are Sunday games. So 7 out of 17 games are Sunday games, 3 of 17 are mid-week games. Wow so only 7 home games are on Saturday this season? CCL requires some changes, but still last season was 9 Saturday games 7 Sunday/Midweek. Certainly not going to help average attendance.
^ Ditto It's the price we pay for the TV networks wanting to feature the best of the best in MLS. Comes with the territory.
Our last 2 home games have been on Sunday, but at 4 under a blazing sun with a ton of humidity. Our next home game is Sunday also, Mother's Day night at 7. After that there are only two more Sunday home games, in September and October. Weird scheduling.
We're letting "The Renters" have Saturday nights; they need all the help they can get attendance-wise.
Actually they’re not much better only 8 of their home games are on Saturdays, same number as us before the Montreal game was rescheduled. Looking round the rest of the league 8-9 Saturday matches seems the norm, so we’re not that bad. I guess in my mind it always seemed like Saturday night games were the clear majority.
Game of Thrones starts at 6pm via fios, and you DO have DVR, right? That said, 8pm is not cool on Sunday night for losers like me who have to drive all the way back to the east side of the 909. And yet, I'll be there. Missing Brad Davis will be huge for them. However, in an inhumane act of non-pity, Bruce will unleash our B Team on them.
Well, what an enjoyable start...BRUCE really impressed me with his line up and moves vs Real. This should be a good test for LAX....do you guys think Jimenez did enough last week to get another start? RK Magoo LD Juninho Jimenez Sarvas Dunivant AJ Gonzo Franklin
You know even 'tho this is Houston, and despite what Hachiko says about this being a "good lineup" I would really rather play with 11 and have a goalkeeper!!! -Steve
I do have a dvr, but only have local cable (I only get the east coast feed for Walking Dead). I really dislike the 8pm start time because both my kids have school the next day, and they will be little zombies going to bed so late. They want that LD bobblehead, so they can tough it out. This will be a good rematch. I know some Houston fans are still upset over the loss at the MLS cup, so hopefully this time their players will keep their hands down in the box.
Do you have season tickets? If so, call your rep and ask them to send you the bobblehead by mail, sometimes they'll do that for you. That way you can put the kids to bed early and still thrill them with a trinket that'll end up at the bottom of the toy box within 30 days.
Hmmm, we might go into this a little over-confident after RSL and the news of Brad the Elf serving his 1 game suspension, so look out! - - -
I do, and I may do that. When they gave out the rings at the gate, I had to fight to get one for my youngest daughter (they said nobody under 2, but she is 2 1/2 and had a ticket). My wife couldn't be at the game, so I had her ticket and they said it was one ring per person, not ticket (as it had been in the past). So who knows what they are doing with the give-aways these days. I think my kids like going to the late games so they can stay up past their bed times anyway.
