That's 1 yr, 2 yr and 5 yr between Cups.

That's 1 yr, +1 yr (2), +3 yr (5), so the next logical progression is +5 yr (10). Which means 5 yrs between ('04) +5 more years will be 2014

Someone has to have a rosy-ier outlook...

    Thx,

    Jay!

some people handle the off-season better than others. you're thinking too much, and that last game at RFK left a bad taste in your mouth. just watch some EPL matches on FSC to hold you over until April 2nd. We're gonna get through this, ya just gotta keep your chin up. Deep breath... aaaaaand we're good.

    the progression could be wave-like;
    1yr............1yr
    ....2yr.....2yr
    .........5yr
This would mean we would be holding the cup the next two years.
After that of course, we'll all be swimming with the polar bears anyway.

Screw you and your goddamn statistical analysis. We will win MLS Cup in 2006. Why?

Because fvck LA, that's why.

The fun about working with numbers is that you can make them say whatever you want.

You assume it's a linear infinite sequence. I prefer to think of it as a repeating sequence with a one-year break.

By THAT reckoning (where 2005 was the one-year break) we should win MLS Cups in 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2014. It all begins again in 2016. LD who?

    How's that for rosy?

    Ahhh...Another "thoughtful" person.

It's a four year sequence that reverses itself, i.e. 96, 97, --, 99 which reverses to 04, --, 06, 07, which means we win the next two cups. My powers do not extend beyond that, for now. :)

I got a better outlook for you:

In 1998 United did not win the Cup. They were eliminated by Chicago......
In 1999 United won the Cup.

In 2003 United returned to post season play, and were eliminated by Chicago.....
In 2004 United won the Cup.

In 2005 United was eliminated from the playoffs by Chicago....
    In 2006......

Twice we've come back the year after getting beat by Chicago to win the cup......time to make it a hattrick!

Interesting point of view. Some how it doesn't take the edge off getting beat by them or make me like those red bastards.

BTW - Thanks for making me think about how we finished the season  ;)

    I'm going with 1/2 full theory . . .

    Cups . . . 96, 97, 98, 99
    Cups . . . 04, 05 (Reserve League!!! . . . and it counts), 06, 07

So as I see it, we get to either MLS or Open Cup finals.

I believe the first five numbers represent the number of teeth possessed by members of the Metros midfield.

42, being 42, is the answer you seek.
