I don’t know if that $10k included travel other than tournament fees. i think it most likely covered teammate scholarships

Wow, hits a little close to me as someone in my family developed an eating disorder I believe partly due to body image stuff she got at a relatively prestigious local summer ballet school. I don’t know how much was from the school itself vs. just from the culture around it though and the pressure to be on a pro track.

It was really sad for me to read as well. Thankfully he had a good support system. Sounds like the kind of person I'd like to see on the Quakes.

A key distinction in this series of tweets is that we're talking about a boy Chris, not a girl Chris. Most girls/women are victims of that body image propaganda, one way or another.

Anyway, without going into the gory details, his story is totally relatable to me. And if we were talking about girls doing ballet or gymnastics instead of a guy playing soccer, people would mostly shrug and say "yeah, that's how it is."

Yes! Giorgio Chiellini is a great defender and from the old school mentality equal to the great center backs like Vierchowod, Collovati, Scirea, Baresi, Maldini , Materazzi, Cannavaro and Nesta.

He is currently captain of Juventus and of Italy's national team. Along with Gigi Donnarumma and Leonardo Bonucci , he helped secure Italy's Euro Cup win last year.

He will started have definitely started in the World Cup had Italy made it. Sadly, they missed out again for the second consecutive time.

Chiellini will do well in MLS as he is only a defender and not a forward so he can organize things in the back.

The only question I think he may have is maintaining fitness. It's not that he isn't in shape but he will be turning 38 in August and unfortunately at that age, you get pulled muscles, hamstrings and all sorts of other injuries.

It would be great to have him play for the Quakes but we all know these guys only know NY & LA. Maybe Toronto , Montreal or Miami too but I doubt he will go to those cities. they probably also won't spend the money on him.

I foresee him going to LAFC to be close to his friend Alessandro Delpiero's restaurant and home in Bel Air.

    Just watched Napoli Genoa 3-0.

Lorenzo Insigne scored on a pk in the win and then exited Napoli's Maradona Stadium for the last time as he is heading to TFC.

By the time Messi comes to MLS, he will be 36. I'm really getting sick of these Over 35 leaguers.....

I won't believe it until I see it and both Mesi's camp and MLS are already denying these rumours.

I don't care so much that Messi would be over 35 my problem with this is he would be joining a bad team in MLS. Then when Miami doesn't win MLS Cup the inevitable reaction from fans that Messi sucks and he's too old.

Then he goes to italy on a good team and plays great again.

Same thing with Shaqiri in Chicago. He doesn't make a bad touch but the team itself just isn't good enough.

Wait isn't Messi supposed to be good enough to make a bad team good? I think he could if fully committed and fit.

If he ever plays at ppp we’ll finally see a full stadium. They’ll probably want to play that game at Levi’s.

We probably wouldn’t see him in SJ if they keep the same competition format. Not many inter-conference games and unlikely MLS would give us that one.

Not sure if it was Fisher, the Niners or whomever was in charge of having the Quakes playing their games at Levi's Stadium but I recall one of the two parties reneged on the deal and exited out because they were losing money.

I foresee them playing at Stanford before Levi’s.

Or maybe Oracle Park in SF. Messi likely will have a clause in his contract that he only plays in cities he’s heard of. :)
