Interesting... Gotta love Genco Pura! The Bonanno Crime Family of New York ran the California Cheese Co in San Jose for years. Cheese is always a great front!
I think the man is technically running a clean operation, his companies are listed on the stock market. What people say is probably related to his humble beginnings and the fact that he obviously had a friendship with Vito Rizzuto. The Rizzuto crime familly is considered the 6th family and was unknown for several decades. There's several books about them.
Yes. The Bonanno's were in San Jose in the 70's and then got kicked out and went to Arizona. Salvatore Vincent "Bill" Bonanno died in Tuscon, Arizona on January 1, 2008 after throwing an extravagant New Years Eve Party.....
Then there were the people in North beach running cocaine and gambling out the back of one of the restaurants @falvo
Yes at Portofino Cafe on Columbus. They were running the operation until the 90's. One of the owners got off because he was too old to be convicted but everyone else got busted...
I knew a Sicilian guy who worked there and he was a nice guy but was innocent. He ended up working at Molinari's Deli after the feds closed down Portofino. There was also a restaurant near Cavalli's bookstore called Il Padrino around 1990 and supposedly they were also a front for something as they didn't last long.
Portofino had the big glass windows right ? I remember watching the 94 world cup on my dad's shoulders and then being taken out because i was blocking people's views. They had the best split cut sausage sandwiches...
No I believe that was the Steps of Rome. They ended up closing down that place too and I ran into their owner in Piazza Navona in Rome. I asked him why they closed but he changed the subject and moved along. Portofino was more up the road near the church. It had a long bar people use to sit at.
What did he do? He was a fine player at Brugge. Commanding and comfortable enough on the ball to play midfield when needed.
He was having a rough time on the ball. Nothing calamitous but just not crisp or comfortable. That could describe all of Galatasaray today though, except for that Belgian kid at RB. Denayer or something like that? He looked pretty good, especially for a 20 year old.
A few years ago when he was leaving Belgium I thought he would have been a good squad addition for Zeman. He has the attributes one v one and is fast. No idea how he's doing now but he must have impressed in Turkey if they signed him now. Not a great player but a good one. Don't think I know the Belgium kid.
Watching the Bologna match through the window of a barber shop in the financial district while I wait for my lady.
Enjoyed the Bologna match (might have something to do with Juve dropping two points). Shame Giaccharini didn't try to cross it to Destro after 80 minutes instead of taking the shot on.
He did well at Parma too. I don't think he could do anything last year when players weren't getting paid. I mean I don't think that was really his fault.
