I’m glad 5th is possible for Roma’s sake. But in general it’s pretty stupid that countries can have 25% of their league or more playing in Champions League at the same time. 🚨 Italy have mathematically secured an extra Champions League spot!🇮🇹 Top 5 from Serie A will enter the league stage of 2024/25 Champions League! pic.twitter.com/HHifsu2Zkh— Football Rankings (@FootRankings) April 18, 2024
Do we have clarification yet on whether 6 teams will be allowed? If Roma or Atalanta were to win the EL but finish outside the top 5....where are we?
I was just gong to ask the same thing. If the EL champion wins, they are guaranteed a spot in the CL.
There is no cap anymore from what I understand. I saw one mad scenario where a country could have as many as 10 teams playing in Europe across all three competitions under the right circumstances. Right now it’s looking like possibly 8 will play from Italy next season.
The way it's looking, hypothetically, almost 1/2 of the league can be involved in European competition next season.
GIANLUCA BUSIO WINNER. USMNT teammate Tanner Tessmann sends it over the top from midfield, where it eventually finds the 21yo from Greensboro, NC. I Lagunari remain 3 points out of automatic promotion spots with 4 to play. 🇺🇸🇮🇹🙌https://t.co/VPV8hkTeoE— Men in Blazers (@MenInBlazers) April 20, 2024
Speaking of Maldini, I saw Daniel score an incredible goal yesterday for Monza and he also had a killer shot in the last minute that hit the post and skimmed across the goalmouth. He only needs like 25 more goals to go and he will have surpassed his dad's 29 total goals over his 25 year career. I think he will surpass Paolo soon.
I'm also watching La Dea vs. La Viola! Gianluca Scamacca rovesciata was awesome! Does anyone know why they are saving the soccer balls?
Also for Serie A (but not every game). I believe they're in the auction app called "Socios," which is not available in the US.
If they've had that for the shoe Totti used to kick Ballotteli in his Inter days, I would've bid for that.
So even just getting to the final vs Atalanta basically guarantees CL no matter what for both sides. Unless either fall to 7th which looks unlikely. 🗞️ | Uefa has informally clarified, later to be written in a circular, that should Atalanta or Roma win the Europa League and finish fifth in Serie A, the sixth-placed team from the Italian league will also enter the next Champions League. Motta will be the new coach of Juventus next season. I’m sure many key players will leave too. Bologna qualifying for CL is a disaster for Serie A.
Conte to Napoli and Sarri to Fiorentina rumored as well. Next season is shaping up to be a really good one. Inter will be big favorites but they also have a pretty old team. Average age is almost 30.
Since losing the derby, Lazio have won 4 on the bounce and have a very winnable run in. Disturbs me greatly that they're back in the mix for a CL place......and it's in no small part all thanks to our efforts in Europe last few years. Cnuts.
