I didn't mean their citizens were free, but that those countries are free from outside influence, as much as country could be in 21st century. I.e. they can operate on the world scene for their own geopolitical goals, rather than being tied in international trities and organisations that dictate their foreign policies. Anyone who thinks that USA is much free-er than Russia is a fool though - big business colluding with the government and vice-versa describes both systems quite well. The land of the free where raw cow milk is illegal, because big milk wants it to be, amonst other 1000 such examples. My point is - no matter where you live, you live in a system ruled by thieves and corrupt bastards, just different flavors. Access to international markets and support costs freedom too, so if your country has any type of meaningful international trade, it's not free - the number of contracts a country and its government has to uphold too is mind-bogling. EU, flawed as it is, is just another flavor of that. The moment you join in, you lose one freedom and you gain another freedom. Same with NATO, G7, FIFA etc. But enough politics, England ain't winning shit regardless.
