No other club would've paid him as much. Heck, I don't even think that any other club than PSG would've matched Milan's offer. I don't really like him but he's better than Navas and definitely going to be their starter soon. Messi hasn't started either. Their squad's so packed that there's no need to field your star signings who haven't been with the club for most of the preseason yet.

Laporta will probably get a lot of flak that Barca aren’t as competitive, but getting rid of both Messi’s and Griezmann’s contracts in one summer is pretty massive. That’s around 150 million off their books. Dembele’s contract also expires next summer, so a lot of extra space is going to open up for them to rebuild.
I completely missed that Edouard has joined Crystal Palace for 17M, that’s a great bargain. CP have an interesting project going on.

New free newsletter: I made the case for why old fashioned wingers might have died out, and why it might be time for them to come back. https://t.co/QlgSb27VLe— Grace Robertson 🏳️⚧️ (@GraceOnFootball) September 17, 2021
Floppaldo forgot he isn't playing for Juve anymore. Only watched the end but saw him dive at least 3 times. Luckily for him King Lingard won the match and de Gea saved a PK at the end.
This is why I believe the 10 will come back eventually to. Football goes through phases but like fashion things come back round. It will only take the right players and the right manager to incorporate them back in. There has been this idea since about the time Pep blew up that football at its best should be played his way. Old fashioned crossing and headers is almost been seen as lesser. Perhaps if the build up is just kicked down the wing first time and then crossed in every time like English football of the 90s yes it could be very repetitive but if you're still playing good sharp build up with passes the into the centre and back wide and/or overlaps to get the wingers into crossing opportunities then I dont think it can be labelled that. Roma were linked to Kostic in the summer and he is a fine example of an old school style player who would be a great addition to any team. Even for variety with a player like SES you have options for different games. I remember Giggs used to terrosise Italian teams when he got the ball, he seemed to be even better against them and going to live Serie A games I latter learned why. There was half a pitch of space for a player who waited on the touchline as Italian defences play zonal and never get man mark tight. Its not something you can fully appreciate from the tv angle. (Remember Walter used to watch the odd Roma game from the stadium roof. There was methods to his madness.) They dont face that style of player on a weekly basic and simply couldnt handle him.
Kostic is desperate to join Lazio for some reason. Carles Perez looked really good when playing on the left, maybe this is something to try this season.
