NCFC draws a penalty on the Birmingham goalie and converts the penalty in the 2nd minute for a 1-0 lead in Cary.

Spokane gets their first ever point on the road with a 2-2 tie at Lexington.

Very funny that they're going to the playoffs courtesy of an empty-netter that only happened because the Flyers weren't aware that they were already eliminated and were pushing for a regulation goal that would have done nothing for them had they scored it.

Related, but less funny, the NHL's points system drives me ********ing crazy. If anyone can give a good reason for an overtime game dishing out 50% more points than a regulation game, I'm ready to listen.

 

There's absolutely no good reason for the loser point in OT/SO games.

 

Whose idea was that, anyway? It has the exact opposite effect from soccer competitions adopting the 3 point win system.
