JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South African club Orlando Pirates have appointed Roy Barretto as their new coach after firing Frenchman Jean-Yves Kerjean.
Barretto is a former national coach of Zimbabwe and, until last week, was coach of Free State Stars, one of two South African premier league soccer clubs closed down last week.

The new coach brings with him two players from his old club, striker Jimmy Kauleza, who has won two caps for South Africa, and the DR Congo goalkeeper Michel Babale.

Barretto's appointment comes less than a week before Pirates play in the Top Eight Cup on Saturday, their first official match of the new season.
