Well from Canada's perspective I can give you a possible starting line up the coach might use:

GK: Onstad (Hirshfeld hasn't played a competitive match in a few months)
Def: Hastings De Vos Fenwick Pozniak
    MF: Nash Stalteri Imhof Bent
    S: Xausa McKenna

Subs: Hume on for one of the strikers, Canizalez on in midfield, Klukowski in midfield or at the back.

What I would like to see:

    GK: Onstad
Def: Pozniak De Vos Klukowski Bent
    MF: Canizales Stalteri Imhof Nash
    S: Xausa, McKenna

Subs: Pizzolitto in at the back, Hume for one of the strikers, Hastings in somewhere.

Its unlikely we would see my line-up start.
With my line-up, Canada wins 2-1. With the coach's line-up.....well let's wait and see. :)

Costa Rica hasnt won by more than 1 goal during Sampson's tenure and I don't see that changing against a team which is as defensive as Canada.

In fact this has been an issue even Sampson acknowlegdes and the teams has been staying after practices to improve their shooting.

A say 1-0 for the Ticos.. we all know Canada is pretty good on keeping games close and counter attacking.. so I wouldnt be surprise to see a tie here either.

    Canada 2 - Costa Rica - 2.
Both goals by Carlo Corazzin, PK and believe it or not, a stunning bicycle kick to tie it.
Yaaaaaawwwwwwwwwn, back to my coma now.

Heard on FSW Report last night that Onstad was injured or something? Sounded like Hirschfield is starting today.

ONstad has had back spasms during the past few practices, so Hirschfield will most likely be starting however i heard he's recovering from a hamstring injury.

My prediction, 1-1. Canada's goal to be scored by either McKenna or Stalteri (The only 2 Canucks that seem to score for the Nats).

Costa Rica just came dangerously close to scoring, but hit the bar. The rebound would not have counted because it was offside.

Does anyone else watching the match on Univision notice the many close-ups of Sampson?

There must be only about 2000 people at the most. This tournament is pathetic.

    HT: Costa Rica 0-0 Canada

I wonder how many people would come if this were staged in Canada?

Univision's broadcast has been horrible. The ball is out of the picture as often as in it.

This game is a total snorefest so far.

    Canada 0 - 0 Costa Rica

An entertaining game, although the finishing is a bit spotty. Canada had a really nice chance which was put just wide, and they came really close to forcing an own-goal.

Costa Rica seem to be carrying the play. El Ticos have created the best chances. However, I think the woodwork around 40:00 was their only good shot.

I'm really hungover, so I might've missed something...

I'll just add that I think the officiating has been far too tight so far. Game has no flow because of it. Although the Ticos have carried the play, Canada has had just as many quality scoring chances. Tico midfield looks good, but their D has had some loose marking that Canada failed to fully exploit. Watching Canada aimlessly boot the ball upfield makes me feel better about the US' own ineptitude at building from the back.

Canada's defense has fallen asleep at the start of the second half!
