He's been mostly shite to average just like the rest of the England team has been. You think Bellingham has it bad, look at what his coach is dealing with.
It's calling the victory in Madrid a "historic win". I deal with a lot of brits because of how involved in boxing I am and everybody agrees Real Madrid are a historic institution in football and the Bernabeu a historic football ground. People just listen to hot take merchants and think it reflects an entire country's opinion. Bellingham was getting Balon d'Or shouts all season long from the UK, people are letting this tournament toxicity get to them when it's the same every two years.
Problem is, when the hot takes merchants keep pushing an agenda, it usually influences and skews the overall perception.
When that happens I'll worry about it. Right now this is a club with millions of admirers and fans around the world and people sit and tell me we're "hated". Completely delusional
I mean, that makes sense, but I don't see any similarities between Trump and any kind of football club. Politics is a completely different case.
You all seem to consume quite a bit of UK media, I assume most of you are American (I’m sure we could all create imagined grievances as well if we decided to indulge in the press of a foreign country), but seemingly aren’t from the UK. Real Madrid isn’t a massive topic of discussion here the games are barely on TV anymore (not sure why La Liga don’t want it shown to a mass audience) you probably get drawn to criticism because it what feeds engagement on your social media algorithms (and what click bait Madrid Twitter channels make money from). The feeling in UK for the most part, on Real Madrid is neutral, obviously if an English team comes up against Madrid in a game most people pull for that club, buts that universal and happens in France and Germany too from what I’ve seen.
If Jude Bellingham helps England to their first major trophy in decades, nobody will care if he plays in La Liga or elsewhere. Jude is admired by a lotta English and EPL fans. All you see in interviews from English fans is how he's a top lad. The ones who hate him are usually salty Man City fans who want to toot Foden's horn or just biased Madrid haters. But the majority of neutrals from what I've seen rate Jude very highly and wish he played for their team.
In September, when Eng v Scot was played, PF & Bello were like best mates, even if one only observes the celebrations and interviews, in future months. Right through until the two Manc matches, especially the one at your place, their 'buddy' mannerisms kinda transformed into a rather mp3 than vinyl format. Yeah, they acknowledged each other after of course. It's courtesy. Rarely seen talking at NT events. Rarely seen celebrating together. Rarely linking on pitch. One wonders of " I'm the f'kin Daddy ! " .. as Carlin' once said. Add to that both being POTY at their manner. One things for sure, Bello is no mom. Firm. That's merely NT antics anyhow. Hope he rests and has that shoulder fixed for the coming season.
The weight of a nation on this young man's shoulders. BBC wrote a great article about him. It explains how Jude is really the leader of England even though Kane wears the armband. Good read - https://www.bbc.com/sport/extra/wnsbc2uwiq/boy-prince-bellingham-ready-for-biggest-stage
Best bit of the above article was how they explained why his childhood club, Birmingham city gave Jude the number 22. They have since retired that number in his honor.
He was probably the best English player in the final, if not MOTM. Couldn’t help that the team is disjointed and inefficient.
Nah man. I love th guy but I saw nothing effective from him in that final. And for most of the tournament tbh. If I didn’t know better I would say he was hiding from the ball in that final. There were a few moments out on the left when he would be an option in the buildup phase but was pointing to the CBs and Declan Rice to send it to the right. He looks not right to me.
I don't think he was hiding. Rather his teammates went for fancy passes when Jude was wide open. Even before the Spain's 2nd goal, Guehi had Jude wide open, but went for long ball and Spain won the possession via throw in. He was fouled during England's equalizer and still ran hard and got into the box for the assist. There was a beautiful through ball to Watkins which was a good chance to score.
He was criticized for that in previous games. Tonight Spain dominated and Bellingham and Saka were the ones carrying dead weights like Kane and Foden.
Jude carried England tonight, I’m sorry. He deserved better than what most had given tonight, especially from those more senior and experienced players. Gave his everything, @BellinghamJude 👑 pic.twitter.com/NX9AGwdhaZ— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) July 14, 2024
I thought Bellingham did what was asked of him brilliantly in the first half nullifying Dani and Yamal. He was given more licence to attack in the second half and was the only one in England who could create anything eventhough he was never playing as a AM once during the game. You want to look at those who played poorly look at Foden who was completely invisible, Saka who is essentially just there to make up the numbers and Kane who really has mastered his duties as a DM to perfection. Who knows, if Watkins had started England might actually have looked better. Another thing is that Mainoo was very poor tonight but it won't make the headlines like if say TAA had played. Thought he was turning pver the ball everywhere, making poor passes and being physically beaten by the Spanish midfielders. Jude has had a dissapointing tournament but this game was not it. He was actually very good today
He won’t care. They tried to give it Beckham and then shut everyone up with that free kick v Greece. Jude has a big mentality and he has a club that will look after him if they even try it.
