Gooch scores 2 in a 3-2 victory for Standard Liege. All I have seen is the score, so hopefully someone will be able to provide some highlights.

My bad, then. Mistook a 0 for an 8, I guess.

Well, if his celebration took 8 minutes that would probably be worth a yellow... ;)

So last week he apparently had a subpar game... and gifted a goal...
So this week he comes back - scores 2 - and is named the best on the field...
Hey i like the way he rebounds from adversity...

You will have the report soon on YA
    Beside that:
    * Score was 0-0 at half-time, Gooch did receive a yellow for arguing;
    * He scored at 49th (Header) and 78th (Volley), He gives the last goal assist at 81st to Garbini

Actually, reports say that he was one of the few SL players who acquitted himself well against Brugge. The blunder happened when the match was already 3-1 and over. Says he was really, really pissed about it, and the loss.

Now that's what you gotta love. Played well according to his coach and the local media, but was pissed about his bad error and the team loss that he went balistic next time out. Animal.

i'm surprised it took this long for him to score... Ougchi is one of the best offensive minded defender in US right now.

But isn't being just one of the few players who acquitted himself well subpar for him? :)

But you're right, it's not like his mistake against Brugge was the one that did in the team. But I do remember (like you did) that he was pissed and upset with himself that it happened and that the team lost.

I see passion in his game. I like his physical attributes and his attitude. I haven't seen enough of him over the last 2 years to judge his decision making, but reports sure suggest he is diong ok there... and he's still improving.

Question though, with his ability to help in the attack, and current depth chart... could he be a dmid rather than a center back? I've always thought he could, but got shot down with that about a year ago.

Just enjoy and believe the hype for once. The kid will succeed at a j=high level period. Have watched several tapes of him over his time in Belgium (with LL and Standard _ old business assocoate send them). The kid has always been a standout. He is in the LD and DMB cut...he forces you to take notice and play him! Have said over the last two years, take BC out of the Big 3 mantra (doing this on his own though) and place Gooch right in there. That is not an overstatement. I've said it before - Marshall, Gooch and Depmsey up the middle one day. Spec-freakin-tacular. Believe the hype with these three. Believe!

SL did try Gooch at Dmid for a couple of matches early in preseason, but switched him back. Do not know why. Game reports said he did OK. Maybe just too intimidating at back?

Maybe Omikell can help with that one.

Actually looking at the goals, that second one was pretty well on the Mons Defense,

if he missed that goal, he would have to hang his head in shame

I liked the flashing header though. Nice
