Since January, I've paid attention to different stats on BigSoccer. I think what gets me really excited about the future of this market is the amount of constant activity. Sons of Ben, only including 3 months of posts, has almost as many posts as some entire cities. PHILADELPHIA has more posts than any market except San Jose Now obviously, posters are dedicated, but are they indicative of the market? DC forums are busy all the time and they are considered the flagship of passionate support. With 6 members in here at 9:25 on a Saturday morning, and 5 guests looking at stadium threads at 7:00, I think we prove once again how much the league needs to be here. We shouldn't be filling out our fantasy lineups, we should be making sure our blue and yellow home shirt is clean and getting everything ready for a home match tonight. Come on MLS.
Yes, other cities don't have the same zeal when it comes to word association threads Seriously though, w00t! PHIL-A-DEL-PHI-A! *boom, boom, boomboomboomboom* PHIL-A-DEL-PHI-A! *boom, boom, boomboomboomboom*
Hey Bryan, an off-topic response, congrats on your Kixx prediction, think you said 14-8 and the final was 13-8...now if you can tell us when the MLS franchise arrives???
You know, I have my ideas, but am starting to get superstitious. So I won't make any prediction as to when this year, but I will say this year. I'd imagine a pre-fab stadium would enable a 09 start, but how long a lead time would that require? 10 months? 18 months? What about clearances for land use?
i know better than to say this, but pre-fab just sounds like it would look hideous. personally, i'd rather have a gem of a stadium, one that the city and league could be proud of, instead of getting one in time for the '09 season.
Toronto started construction in early summer 2006 and they open this weekend. So about 11 months is the fastest a MLS stadium can go up, I would predict.
I've been tracking the Philadelphia board stats for a while. It has always striked me how much more activity our little corner of the forum garners than other candidate cities. We are in, afterall, the largest market MLS is not in yet.
Yeah, it's 10:45 on a weeknight in a city that doesn't have a team and 7 members are currently posting...I think we're ready for a team. 10 (7 members & 3 guests) Rest of Candidate Cities combined 17 (8 members & 9 guests)
