Its nuts, but at the same time Sunderland did just get knocked out the FA Cup by a League 2 side I think...so anything is possible. To call Keano a world class manager though...sorry but he isn't that yet. He will earn his way to becoming that though..

I think that in the modern era, where it seems that players are having more of a say in things, Keano's harsh way could potentially fail spectacularly. If he were coaching a bigger side, I think he would have real problems unless he had an owner who would stick with him. The fact that he is coaching a Championship side means he actually can enact tough rules, and be an overall rougher manager.

Kinda funny considering Keano's history with Mick McCarthy...

now's his opportunity to show that he's a better manager than McCarthy as well.

Great news. Give him a few years, and he'll be our next manager :)

I think it will be a good job for him, he certainly has the love for the game, the passion, the commitment and the detirmination to succeed, I wish him all the best (if he does become Sunderland manager). :)

I watched Celtic matches after Roy joined them.

I don't want to have to watch Sunderland matches now.. :(

That was my reaction too when they announced it half-time on Sky.

Couldn't believe it as I thought he had history with Quinn too or maybe that was blown out of proportion in the media/papers?

Keane vs. Haaland showed that he doesn't forget. Maybe he's mellowing out and is willing to let bygones be bygones.

He had shiet with Quinn because of the Ireland affair (Quinn spoke out against him).

But before that he has had a long, long history with Quinn. I think they're rather close, actually. I mean, one of the closer persons to Keane, because I don't think he has much close footballer friends.

Hopefully one of the Irish poster can fill in all the blanks on that. I think Littleman has some of it correct, but there's probably more.

Perhaps he's gone there on a stealth mission...and will slowly posion Quinn... you never know with Keano. :D

    ---

    On another note.

Keane's managers at club level were CLough and SAF.... Keane is also a firebrand.

I really can't see him accepting failure from those players and it could be a horrid, horrid explosive affair it they underperform for him... Keane sitting on the bench watching players fail him... wow, that's worth an entrance fee.

    Wow..just wow.....

Anyways, it'll be a great place to cut his management teeth at. I hope he learned a lot from Clough and Sir Alex. Maybe in a few years he'll be ready to take us over.
